The first annual San Jose Bacon Festival of America took place Saturday.
The festival, which started at 11:00 a.m., lasted until 10 p.m. and features a bacon-cooking competition, a bacon beauty pageant, a bacon parade, a bacon square dance and bacon games.
"Bacon is really popular these days, and we expect almost 10,000 people here today at the flea market," said Ryan Sebastian, who is the mastermind behind the festival.
People who attended the festival said they enjoyed the festivities.
"I'm actually here cause I want to pin the bacon on my own waistline," one woman who attended the festival said.
"It's like disgustingly fabulous," another woman said.
The event was held at the San Jose Flea market on Maybury Road.
All bacon dishes were $5 or less.
pING
Eric Holder and the DOJ are going to sue...this festival is exclusionary and blatantly discriminates against allah fearing muslims....
Don’t give them any ideas.
“Flea Market”? I thought that they were called “Swap Meets” in Kali?
pIG!
Was PeTA there?
The stomach says yes but the mind says no. Doesn’t look like very heart healthy cuisine. Gotta watch the cholesterol and high BP here in the older years. But yumskies....
California?? California is so liberal, so sensitive to Muslim sensibilities, and to food faddists.. How can a bacon festival happen in California? TOFU festivals, of course. Vegan festivals, check. But a bacon festival??????
When the bacon comes back to San Jose
That’s the day when you promised a BLT
When you whispered, “it’s bacon!”, in San Jose
‘Twas the day it was all bacony.
All the mission bells will ring
The chapel choir will sing
The happiness you’ll bring
Will live in my memory
When the bacon come back to San Jose
That’s the day when it will all be bacony.
Baconization
Why do I only find out about these things AFTER they happen???
I knew it was going on, but I had a new top for the Miata that just refused to install itself. I would much rather have been eating (and celebrating) bacon...
It blew the adobo festival away..
Didn’t they use to have the Tapestry festival in San Jose Labor Day weekend?
Enjoy a BLT today—the politically incorrect sandwich
