Trevor Immelman rallied to win the Hotel Fitness Championship on Sunday at Sycamore Hills to lock up a PGA Tour card in the Web.com Tour Finals opener.
Immelman, the South African who won the 2008 Masters, made a 12-foot birdie putt on the final hole for a 6-under-par 66 and a one-stroke victory over Patrick Cantlay.
"There's no doubt this is huge for me," Immelman said. "It's been a long, frustrating road for me. It was so disappointing to lose my card. I'm not going to lie, I've struggled since 2008. I've been wondering if I'd be able to get back to playing the way I know I can play."
"I had a number of 8-under 64 in my mind," Immelman said. "Patrick was playing so well and there was no reason to think he wouldn't continue that today. I figured I'd have to shoot something like 64 to have a shot."

I admit that I know Trevor and his family, and have always rooted for him - even before his Masters win. He's just a genuinely humble, nice human being - and a great family man. His wrist has never been the same since hitting his approach out of that divot on #18 at Augusta that year. Trust me when I say he is one of golf's true gentlemen, and it's nice that we'll all get to root for him in 2014. Nice job Trevor.
Yeah, good to see. Trevor has always seemed a class act.
He did it with the Mashie Niblick.
No, he probably did it with countless hours of hard work.
Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac... It’s in the hole! It’s in the hole! It’s in the hole!
Betcha Immelman is head over heels over his win.....
It occurs to me that my sense of humor may be lost on some...

Trevor is plenty famous on his own. He’s a Masters Champion.
Trevor is a Champion. Champions have the hearts of lions.
Very well said Baynative.
I was trying to make a joke regarding “head over heels” and the nature of the aerobatic turn that shares his name.
