I know the states get federal money to implement CC. I am curious whether the school districts, schools, archdioceses, or individual schools get money for this? I bet they do. That’s Obama’s way - use taxpayers’ money to buy love and support. So disgusting.

They just implemented common core in my state (Alabama). I spoke to an administrator and at the end of the day I pulled my daughter out of the public education system and moved her to private school.

Common core is educating to the least common denominator education. They have multiple plans to deal with students with difficulties, but they have nothing to deal with overachieving students. That was the final nail in the coffin for us.

AP now propagandizing for the cause.

Actually they acknowledged that in the only two states that have implemented the Common Core standards (Kentucky and New York) test scores have plummeted. I was surprised that they admitted that.

Now, more than ever: Government indoctrination centers are no place for young minds.

Home school or private school.

Don’t let your kids go someplace where they will be turned into minds full of mush.

Of course parents don't know anything about it, the proponents don't want parents to know and possibly protest and have them removed, thus leaving the inventors of Common Core penniless.

Although the federal government was not involved in creating them...

Yeah, right, I'm gonna' believe that one!!

Dear Free Republic: Why did you link to this article without doing your own due diligence on Common Core??? Something Wrong with your head???

Do you due diligence and write your congresspersons. Get active in an anti-common core organization for the following reasons

The AP article is benign, but it is hiding the real motives behind Common Core:
Except when describing lesson plans, they are extremely detailed so a monkey could teach it. it takes the depth of experience out of teaching.

The Common Core lesson content is the most egregious.
1. English in Texas included Allah is great and disparages other religions.
2. Part of one lesson explanation states that they want to teach the children to nag their parents with inflammatory, emotional arguments rather than civil discussion.
3. Established education experts rejected Common Core. European countries rejected Common Core and would not endorse it when requested presumably by the founding Gates Foundation, a major contributor to funding the curriculum.

Bribery was used to get Common Core accepted by the schools:
The DOE tied Adopting Common Core to school funding measures, forcing schools to adopt even before the curriculum details were released.
The national governor’s association embraced Common Core before the curriculum was completed. They bought something they had no knowledge of.

Common Core Purpose is Socialist/Marxist:
The stated purpose of Common Core is to prepare our children to be “workers”. This is socialist, pure and simple.

No Parental Consent (you do not have the right to inquire about the content of Common Core being taught to your children:
Parental consent statutes have been gutted so now parental consent is not required for them to do anything to your child at school - all without your knowledge.

Extensive personal and family data mining:
School districts now can or will collect up to 400 elements of database information tracking every aspect of child and their family lives from K thru 12 and then make the information available to third parties. NO privacy. This means the child’s misbehavior if any will haunt him for all his life.

Philosophical background:
Pres. McKinley is on record as saying there has to be 2 systems of education in America. One for workers (Common Core), the other for elites to govern the workers.

We homeschool. I looked at the CC standards. We have no fear of an SAT shaped around CC. We’ll crush it. It’s just one more leg up for my kids over public school kids. Plus, they know how to shoot, fight and pray.

I feel sorry for kids being taught in public schools but it’s like watching a train wreck, nothing you can do to stop it.
