Robinette or Robinett is an old American surname dating back to at least 1682. There was a Fort Robinett or Battery Robinett, a Union fortification, which figured in the Second Battle of Corinth in 1862, apparently named for Major Henry Robinett, who at one point was on Grant’s staff (but committed suicide in 1868).
