I used to have students search for their name in quotation marks (Exact phrase) to see how many times they could find themselves on the internet. Many were amazed so much of the information on sites like these was actually nearly public information.

The real surprise came when I had parents Google their children’s name

It is a good idea to delete any thing you can from any site you don’t plan to visit any longer

What about sites like intelius, etc. which mine data about you and then put it all together in an easy-to-find-out-everything-about-you packet? If you Google your name, you can find out your age, address, phone number, etc. which you never posted, but which was tapped from public information. I would love to delete myself from all those type of sites.
