R.I.P Mr. Post. Probably the 2nd best of the DH series and showed how a liberal idiot mayor cowered under pressure from a criminal.

Same actor, played by John Vernon aka “don’t piss on my back and tell me it’s raining”(Josey wales) aka Dean Wormer of Animal house. Whenever Scorpio rattled his chain, he was ready to give him whatever he wants.

There was an exchange was when he said (not exact quote) “Callahan, it’s been reported you shot a victim who you said was a rapist, what say you?” Then Callahan replies (not exact quote) “Well Mayor, when a guy is running around naked, bloody with a knife in his hand, I think I have an idea he was the perp.”

It was from the first film, “Dirty Harry.”

The Mayor: Callahan... I don’t want any more trouble like you had last year in the Fillmore district. You understand? That’s my policy.

Harry Callahan: Yeah, well, when an adult male is chasing a female with intent to commit rape, I shoot the bastard that’s my policy.

The Mayor: Intent? How’d you establish that?

Harry Callahan: When a naked man is chasing a woman through a dark alley with a butcher knife and a hard on, I figure he isn’t out collecting for the Red Cross.

[Callahan leaves]

The Mayor: I think he’s got a point.

John Vernon really had some of the truly great lines in movie history.

“Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”

“Senator, there’s another old saying: don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining.”

“I *hate* those guys.”

“I made it through Korea, I can make it through this bullsh*t.”

“I know you’re surprised that a big Hollywood star like me would appear in this movie. A lot of Hollywood stars have done exploitation films, like Angie Dickinson in Big, Bad Mama.”
