Boston Fans Cheer ARod Hit By Pitch [Vanity]
Vanity | 8/18/2013 | Self

Posted on 08/18/2013 5:59:25 PM PDT by PieterCasparzen

After throwing at ARod several times - even behind him - when a pitch finally hit him high on his back, a large number of the fans at Fenway actually loudly cheered.

Disgusting.

I'd walk off the field if I was playing for the Yankees.

That's pure evil.

You don't cheer a supposed professional pitcher hitting a batter on purpose.

I have NO desire to see Boston-NY games the rest of this year.

I could care less about any media-hype about supposed competition between the two teams. As far as I'm concerned it's a media scam to get a broader audience.

It's not about baseball.

First time I’ve seen a beaning in the elbow.
A-dud just cranked one. He got his revenge.

Yeah, never before has a MLB player been intentionally hit by a pitch and everybody in the ball park knew it was coming.

I did not say those things.

I said it is nothing to cheer about.

I have never seen a wild eruption of cheers when a player got hit with a pitch.

I have see MANY times

a full stadium go DEAD SILENT

when a BIGTIME player of the VISITING team goes down.

Oh... and THIMBLE BOY...

CHEERS

when he stands up.

Ever come across that in all your vast knowledge of the history of the game ?

Let me let you in on a non-secret. MLB pitchers have always thrown at MLB batters. It is called baseball.

Even without that, today's equipment, data analysis, diet and training makes it so that it is WAAAAAYYYYY easier than back in the day. No comparison.

Well, admittedly back in the day you needed binoculars to see the outfield fence.

Normally that would happen but you see, nobody from the Yankees bench ran onto the field when Rodriguez was hit. Yet the entire Red Sox dugout emptied out.

Not even Rodriguez's own teammates are defending him. It really is a very strange scene that's playing out. It's not going to end well.

He will go down as the least liked player in MLB history.

The Bronx isn’t exactly etiquette school either.

I'm certainly not defending the Bronx. But Yankee Stadium fans do cheer for classy guys on other teams. One has to remember that the fans at the game are from the whole metro area, many from Jersey and upstate NY. They try to keep it a "FAMILY" event. If you watch the games you see it. Many teams to exactly the same thing. It's all about demonstrating sportsmanship, professionalism and hard work, like, when earning millions per year in a dream job, running is not too much to ask, etc.

IMHO, perhaps the team front offices and MLB keep stirring the pot trying to gin up the Sox-Yanks "rivalry", which I'm completely SICK of. I want the team I root for to get into the playoffs rather often, and sometimes win a pennant and sometimes win the Series. If the Yanks beat the Red Sox every game they played for 10 years, but never got into the playoffs, the Sox wins mean absolutely ZERO to me.

A-Rod deserves to get hit by a pitch for dating Madonna, never mind what else he did.

Oh boy :) dude needs to get his life right with God. Ughh. Oh yuck. I think I might puke, back in a minute... LOL...

You lack situational awareness.

Never mind all the weak, fragile straw men you keep carelessly erecting.

“I like Prince. He may be the ugliest player around. “;^)”

I used to like him. I cheer for old guys and fat guys, unless they play for the Yankees, White Sox, or Tigers.

The fans just don’t cheer wildly - immediately.

They wait at least a couple seconds until they see if the guy is ok.

Cuz if he goes out on a stretcher, and the fans have a soul, they might “feel bad” for having cheered as his body fell to the ground.

This was like watching Ben Hur. Kill ! Kill !

Rather curious, IMHO.

Just tuned in. NONE of the Yankees ran out when the Sox came out??? Holy sh$t! I have never seen that one. These kids are always ready to go to duke city, sometimes over the smallest on field slights. If the Yankees stayed in the dugout that tells one all we need to know about how they feel about A-Rod. Did the announcers mention that the Yankees did not come out and comment on it?

Huh? Sabathia has been great. They won the series with him as the ace. This year is not great, but otherwise he’s been great since he arrived.

Apparently it is true that nobody on the Yankee bench came out to defend Rodriguez except for the manger (and only because it was his job), check out the link.

Trying to avoid a brawl. Somehow ARod did not charge the mound and go all Nolan Ryan on him.

See... Yanks are trying to win games. As a team. Don't need no injuries from fights or suspensions.

Two weeks ago I was sure we'd finish in last place in the east. Cuz when we had RISP, our batters got the jelly knees. I look up some stats, that's what it said, jelly knees. Our team average with RISP was like 40 points lower than team average. We were like a few from the bottom in all of baseball for "gettin' it done" offensively. Horrifying.

Not even Rodriguez's own teammates are defending him. It really is a very strange scene that's playing out. It's not going to end well.

Cross that bridge when we come to it. The players can't worry bout all this yackity-yack, as it makes no difference at all to winning. If ARod - like anyone else - gets the bat on the ball, he's in the lineup, that's about it, IMHO, at least that's what JG's had to do all year.

If dude did roids, then his records will be (in my mind) right there with Bonds, Sosa, etc. The roid record book.

Babe Ruth didn't do no PEDs, well, unless you count beer.

Looking at it, it appeared even A-Rod knew it was coming.
