SAN DIEGO (Reuters) - A California man who abducted the 16-year-old daughter of a longtime family friend and took her to the Idaho wilderness after killing her mother and brother had letters from the teen, search warrants showed on Friday.
The San Diego County Sheriff's office warrants also showed 13 phone calls or text messages between phones belonging to the San Diego area girl and her abductor, James DiMaggio, on the day she went missing.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department, which requested eight search warrants in the case, declined to say whether Anderson or DiMaggio initiated the calls.

Hannah was a victim in every sense of the word, Caldwell said Friday. We cannot be more clear on that.
Would the police lie? Yes,it’s a big part of their job.
Am I to assume from this that the family may have been at Dimaggio's house all weekend and stayed overnight Saturday.
The time and location of those 13 phone calls will be interesting and the time of death if that is even possible.
Some might say it was a case of the older guy who was infatuated with the Little Lolita and was doing or bidding.
Of course, this is only what some others may say. I’d never say such a thing without adequate proof.
I blame the adult. Adults are supposed to have self-control and the maturity to tell a child “NO”.
Yup, if they are trying to develop a case, they’re gonna shut up. Until ever t is crossed and i dotted.
But there may not be enough.
Wow! This case is so baffling. It’s still in the news ... not over.
The first thing my wife (works with troubled young adult women) said was to wait and see that the abduction was probably not as it appeared. I’m still waiting and it is getting to look more and more like it was not just a kidnapping of an innocent victim.
Post Of The Day.
This ones gona get real f’en Cali Style Weird!
I’m having serious doubts too. This story is starting to get rather murky.
I would not be shocked if Dear Daddy had a role in all this. In other words, Daddy was pawning his daughter to the sicko friend. Maybe Mama found out and no other choice but to finish her off and of course the brother probably knew. I saw a news bit where there was some dinner thing to raise funds for her therapy I suppose. They were trying to cover her face yet she goes on twitter and facebook.
This girl is going to play it up for all that it is worth.
She has already made People Magazine.
Someone remarked to her that after the fundraiser on Thursday she was going to be rich and she LOLed it. Her dad said that they raised a lot of money at the fundraiser.
She is surrounded by friends and relatives who are trying to make her a Star.
It’s interesting to read the comments of these articles — 95% of the commenters don’t buy her act but believe instead that she is complicit.
Please explain.
Yes.
But I have noticed comments on news sites where the majority by far think she had something to do with it. Even here on FR, the objections have toned down.
She is 16 years old, tacky, inarticulate and not very bright. So I don’t think she has a career in entertainment.
Otherwise ...
People are waking up to this. Many find her story just wrong.

Today, Friday, SD has doubled down that even with the phone calls and the letters from Hannah, that she is absolute a victim.
Hmm ...

She is already starring in her first movie role — the innocent teenage Lolita trying to get people to feel sorry for her as she tries to find tears for her mother and brother.
I saw this coming days ago almost the instant I starting paying attention to the case, the day after he was shot dead.
I’ll bet this is only getting started, and it’s going to wind up where none of us wishes to see it wind up.
It’s a real shame...
Good for them —
