I wanted to act since I was six years old, after seeing Star Wars, but my goals were more wear a sweet costume and pretend to be cool than be famous. So the fact that I was cast in the Nickelodeon sitcom iCarly at age 14 and catapulted into tween stardom was both an exciting and unexpected journey. When iCarly first started growing in popularity back in 2007, my castmates and I quickly felt the swell in attention. I started getting invited to movie premieres, designers were sending me clothes, old friends were reaching out, and I could no longer go to a public place without getting asked for a picture or an autograph. It was all pretty cool. At the time I didnt realize I was losing myself, but I was....

When you hear about all the stupid stuff done by some of these celebrities these days, it is really reassuring to see some like Jennette who are trying not to get caught up in all that. And, this is not a "I am better than you" article...more like "yes I am human" article. Really good read....this young lady is squared away
I don't even know what a hash tag is!
Still don’t know who it is...
Probably someone who took her clothes off on stage at 16
I have always called it “Pound”
#
we need pics
I confused her with someone else
LOLOL
This was actually an excellently written essay. I’m really surprised and I wish her the best. Very few teen celebs will say something like this.
I have a grandchild so I’ve watched her a lot.
I could only wish for her what I want for my own family-some sanity and serenity, some sobriety and peace.
She has a lot of life ahead of her and as she noted chances are it may not be in the spotlight the way things change so quickly in these times.
They don’t broadcast that graphic kind of material on Nickelodeon where’s she been seen for the last seven years but they do a lot of double entendre humor with sexual and especially excretory themes toned down a bit from what you might see on other channels.
Actually no. Since you obviously did not read the article before commenting you made yourself look foolish. Congratulations.
It was not broadcast but she was really naked on the set in front of the whole crew, as a minor.
That’s what you call taking it off? Really? Hahahahahahahaha
She’s a rare exception. Howood is the siren call of the self destructive.
I would think that they would keep that off the air and off the net.
I don’t read all the celebrity rags-sites etc. to remember that story but its good that I didn’t read it.
The young people under 18 have been sending so many naked pictures of themselves around with their devices that the states changed the laws to exempt them from paying the price an adult would for sending such material around.
I can still only wish people well even the ones that do crazy things. I’ve done some myself frankly.
Jeannette seems like a good kid..she has been in a lot of TV shows, starting off on Law and Order SVU..I have seen a few episodes of ICarly but didnt care much for it anymore when they had Michelle Obama on..thats when I was done watching the show..but Jeannette seems like a very intelligent girl, she is right now on the show Sam And Cat, I wish her well
“You may not know who Jennette McCurdy is...”
I don’t even know what a hash tag is!
LOL!

Yes very well written...which is why I had to post it
Considering the last few months we have seen a lot of young folks on police blotters, or, unable to read cursive...quite reassuring to read something like this
I’m betting Ms Jennette can read “cursive”...

Gotta feeling Ms McCurdy is not going to end up like many of the former teen/tween stars on Nick/Disney
They didn’t “show” it. But everyone on the set saw it. She was 16.
I am sure her parents were so proud.

Child stars use that casting couch too. Its Hollyweird after all.
She is the one I thought she was, played “Sam”. Of all the characters on the show seemed like the most real as a person, even in character on the show.
