Apparently there are some people that cannot protect themselves from drugs, no matter what.
Unfortunately, neither can I, or anybody else protect them.

You are correct. We can pass a hundred more laws - and yet these individuals will still screw up their lives.
On the other hand.... When libertarians who advocate surrendering on the WOD also claim that - when drugs are legal - there won't be more drug users and more crime and all that.... They only look like the complete and utter idiots they are.
A lifelong teacher told me years ago “You can’t save them all”. At the time I thought that was an unusually cold and uncaring statement, but increasingly I’ve learned that she was right.
Which is why AA has always been a program of want, not need. God willing, Sept 5th I will celebrate 17 years sober. May she rest in peace.
