He’s good Midwestern stock, raised in Iowa.
Not so much on social stuff, environment, etc.
I still remember that pro-Obama YouTube he and Demi made in '08. It was disgusting.
Oh no, he was giving viewers some good advice?
Is that allowed?
Has the Teen Choice Awards and the TV channel apologized yet?

Well, opportunity looks a lot like hard work, and she seems to be a very high-maintenance model. I'm not sure I'd be up to that level of opportunity.
Who KNEW he was more mature than Demi!!
good question
People should stop paying attention to Hollyweird
Next thing you know he’s gonna find himself at the Republican Convention standing next to an empty chair...
Yes, he was undoubtedly inspired by playing Steve Jobs, who, by the way, was also a liberal democrat. People like that have been having political beliefs contradictory to their own personal philosophies for a long time.
Whoa! I am shocked! I don’t “follow” the lives of any of the Hollyweird crowd but this helps to restore some of the lost faith in people.
Thank you Chris (Ashton) for this speech as many children today do not hear it from their own parents!
I get it as...
Instead of just going through life watching everyone around you doing everything for you, get off your ass and build your own path.
“Whoo...!”
Never in a speech has this been more annoying. What he was saying was important, and they moved heaven and earth to dumb down his message.
Great speech —really fantastic— but I couldn’t help noticing that he baaaarely triumphed over these moussed-up, glassy-eyed slubberdegullions.
Chris? What is so unsual about that? Does it stand for Christian, or Christopher? Is he implying that he couldn’t get a job in hedonistic Hollywood with a Christian first name?
Don’t a lot of people change their names when they become actors to a better suited “stage name”? Chris might have been too plain and common....so they went with his middle name (which is still his name).
What’s so wrong with that?
There was probably a Chris Kutcher who appeared in three blaxsploitation films in the early 70’s, but has dibs on the name, so the Screen Actors Guild made him pick another.
I get it as Build the life you want to live, don’t just live a life that you think you’re supposed to, or what you’re told to live.
Best line of the speech, IMO....
Everything around us, that we call life, was made up of people that are no smarter than you! And you can build your own thing...your own life that others can live in...so build one, find your opportunity.
Maybe he’s changed....in 2009 he was in a video pledging allegiance to Barack Obama. No kidding.
I imagine he is still a strong Democrat, but I will give him props for delivering a message that those kids needed to hear in an environment where he did not have to do so.
