FULL TITLE: Parents left terrified after man hacked their baby monitor and yelled abuse at them and their 2-year-old daughter
A Houston, Texas couple was horrified when the baby monitor in their young childs room was taken over by a hacker who verbally attacked them and even used their daughters name.
Marc Gilbert says he was doing the dishes following his birthday celebration when he heard strange sounds coming from 2-year-old Allysons bedroom.
He discovered they were coming from the baby monitor as a strangers voice called his sleeping daughter an effing moron and little s*** before he quickly unplugged it.
The virtual intruder even knew Allyson by name because it was written just above her head, on the wall over where she dozed.
The hacker then yelled at Gilbert and his wife, using expletives in what they described as a British or European accent.
'He said, 'Wake up Allyson, you little (expletive),'" Gilbert said.
Allyson is deaf. Though she has a cochlear implant, it was turned off and she was never bothered by the shocking intrusion.
Then things became even creepier.

“I see the camera move on us,’ Gilbert said.”

Gads! That’s unnerving...
This is why I put in a *wired* camera, and used a low-end monitor for daughter. DD’s room was not near the master bedroom due to house layout, so the monitor was useful for hearing if the baby was crying or fooling around in the middle of the night (so she could be intercepted before she injured herself trying to get out of her crib, for instance). The camera was to monitor her activities without actually having to go into the room (and thus get her excited to play with Daddy instead of taking the nap/sleep she needed). The monitor and camera were only on when baby was in her room to sleep.
The monitor also made for a convenient, if one-way, communicator so whichever parent was in taking care of baby could call for assistance if needed, and so I could intervene if the now-ex-wife was starting to lose her temper (she was a monster, and eventually couldn’t be trusted with putting the baby to sleep).
We’re any of the kids you raised disabled? This little girl is disabled and has had surgery. I think her parents did well to keep a monitor on her in case she had a problem.
We had a child with some health issues. If she had become ill in the middle of the night, I could not have heard her just due to the acoustics of the house. Yes, we used a monitor. No camera, though; I’m not sure they had those back then. These devices have their uses.
I've heard that those things can get pretty big.
They can have their uses. We put on proximity monitors on our kids when we first went to Disney World. If the children were beyond 25 feet from us, a piercing alarm would go off on the child.
In a crowded park we simply didn't want to risk being separated. It never happened but we felt better for the alarms. Would have been a pretty big surprise for a random pervert in their last moments on Earth.
