Well there is a big difference between accidental death and death from purposeful neglect.
If you cannot tell the difference you are the world’s biggest drama queen.
I’m talking law, and you’re going into personal attacks. Says a lot.
I was comparing NEGLECT that doesn’t result in death being prosecuted, while NEGLECT that does result in death demanding sympathy. Tell me the difference. ‘Oops, I was so busy playing video games/drinking with friends/going to the store for ‘just a minute’ that my child died’ usually gets the neglectful/stupid parent/guardian/babysitter arrested-does it not? ‘Mistakes’, like talking on the phone while a toddler falls into a pool, are accidents AND neglect.
Failure to see to the well-being of a child, resulting in injury/death of the child is all that I care about. The circumstances or excuses don’t change the outcome.” I didn’t think...” is a pitiful excuse for causing a child’s death. How is ‘ They didn’t think hours at 100+ degrees would kill my baby,’ different from “I didn’t think giving the baby methadone/alcohol to quiet it would kill it?”
It appears this couple was neglectful in the past-and failed to understand that putting a newborn in a tightly packed back seat, with no AC, and driving for hours in the heat could be harmful for a tiny baby. It may be that they had no choice and no other way to get where they were going. Unless, and until, I hear that they constantly checked the baby, doing everything they could to keep her cool, and the trip was simply too hard for her-I agree with the police who charged them. It was negligent homicide.
