Using a PC to make phone calls...

There are various things out there. But I could not find something to set this up.

VoIP (Voice over IP) has been around for a long time.

I would not mind just using headphones and a microphone to make the phone call.

There is a website IPKall.com that will give you a Washington state telephone number.

But I am not sure how you set up the VoIP part. I tried to see if there were any other threads on this.

I guess using SKYPE is one way to do this, but not to call someone else who has a real telephone...

We always build our own PCs. Can’t recommend it enough. I have been on my latest PC for... going on 3 years now. Love it!

A T & T made all sorts of mistakes in installing LANDLINE service for me a couple of months ago:

(1) They connected the phone line to someone else's residence, but billed me for the time it was connected to the wrong residence.

(2) I could not get DIAL UP to work (and I blamed the DIAL UP provider, afte all A T & T knows how to install telephones)

(3) It took forever ( 5 days for A T & T ) to install service at the wrong place.

(4) It took forever for A T & T to disconnect service (5 days).

(5) A T & T never got my telephone to work properly.

(6) On the installation visit, A T & T said my cell number was a bad number, and did not try to call the SECOND NUMBER they required for installation.

In Contrast, I bought the Magic Jack, and used the chat service to get it working in about 20 minutes. So I had PHYSICALLY had the MAGIC JACK, it was only 20 minutes before it was working fine.

Once upon a time I moved into a place and idly connected the phone line to a phone and found it was working and found it was also connected to someone elses house miles away. weird. So of course I ran up the bill. lol.
