WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — Beware the military salute!

The National Football League will reportedly be cracking down on excessive celebrations and taunting this upcoming season.

Pro Football Talk reports that that referees working training camps have been warning players about celebrating too much.

The taunting rule is nothing new in the NFL, but what some critics have dubbed the “No Fun League,” officials will now go a step further to enforce the rule.

Maybe they will require each team to deliberately fumble, and throw passes to the defense

Yeah, but how would they tell with the Cowboys?

cracking down on excessive celebrations

Good, I have nothing but disgust for a bunch of football monkeys celebrating a play as if it was their very first accomplishment in the NFL.

One of the greatest running backs in NFL history (Barry Sanders) playing for one of the worst teams in NFL history (the Detroit Lions) never celebrated a touchdown. Instead, he treated each one as just part of the job he was paid to do. He scored, he dropped the ball or gave it to the ref and returned to the sidelines.........That's class!

celebrations and taunting

As much as I hate to say it, it's a "cultural" thing.

The taunting isn't relegated to pro football, it applies to every team sport that involves black teams. Softball, basketball, you name it.

Decades ago (70's - 80's) I used to umpire softball games in Detroit which involved many black teams. I had to give it up do to the violence which often occured following the back and forth taunting by the teams..it was relentless.

You do know what his gestures are a pantomime of? He’s “making it rain” in the strip club. That’s the killer Aaron Hernandez by the way.

Perhaps they will start handing out bouquets of flowers after a successful play, serve tea and crumpets at halftime or place a star studded crown on the head of the winning quarterback in an awards ceremony at the end of the game.

This is football for Heaven’s sake, not jump rope.

I am from the “act like you’ve been there” school. Your attitude should be “We scored on you. Big deal. We’re going to be doing that a lot today.”

I always enjoyed watching the fake hand grenade. Seven or eight players huddled around the ball then they all fall backwards at the same time.

Always cracked me up.

Football is losing me with all these rule changes. I was a rabid Broncos Fan in the 80s and 90s...now, other than Manning, I don’t think I can name anybody on the team. How sad is that?

This rule is reaction to players like Terrell Owens and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, in my humble opinion....

You want to stop the excessive celebrations?

Throw the penalty flag and void the points just scored.

No more endzone dances.
