Help me choose a laptop, PLEASE

Please help me choose which laptop to buy:

A http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AM7MM4I/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

B http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0075ZRAKG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A33O72BR8EJNQK

I want to go with 'A' but it comes with Windows 8- which I'm not used to (I have always used 7) and afraid of. I hear a lot of negative comments about it.

I do not know which one you will buy but whichever one it is then just as soon as you get it, jam as much RAM into it as you can.

“battery life on the Toshiba Satellite is BAD”
________________________________________________
Yes it is...really worthless.
I have two Toshibas. One that I bought while in Slovakia, and a newer one that another expat, desperate for cash, sold to me. The battery is dead in both.
Other then that I have had no problems, other then the CD drive failing in the first computer.

For value, look at the Acer Aspire and any of the Asus line. Good luck here with both, with both win7 and Ubuntu Linux.

First, take a look at:

Play around with the checkbox selections on the right until you find one with the best processor/memory/drive size/etc. that you can get that will fit your budget.

Free shipping for one over (I think $400), so factor that into your calculations as well.

I bought my granddaughter an intel i3 based one a few years ago and she has been using it without a hitch since that time.

I bought myself an intel i7 based one a over a year ago, and other than an initial total fail when trying to use the first day (they paid shipping back, fixed it, and returned), it has operated flawlessly since then.

I bought my daughter an intel i3 based one a few months ago, and it also has had no problems so far. She didn't care about which operating system was on it, so she got Windows 8, while my granddaughter and myself both got Windows 7.

While you're there, look around at their returns/refurbs, as you can find some pretty impressive deals, and they carry the same 1 year guarantee as their new laptops do, and if you select one of those, you don't have to wait for it to be built, so you will get it quicker. My daughter's laptop was a return/refurb because she wanted it quickly.

Sorry I didn't answer your question specifically, but I thought I'd pass the Toshiba site on to you just in case it might be of value to you (or any other Freeper looking for a laptop).

Good luck on whatever your buy.

I’m assuming both are WIndows DOS.

Save yourself the trouble, spend a little more and get a MacBook Pro (Retina display if you can afford it). There are too many features to go into with you here.

You won’t regret it.

Between those two I would grab the ASUS with Windows 7
If you are willing to spend just a little more you can pick up a much better machine though

I have a much higher end laptop with Windows 8 and would dump it instantly for ANY laptop with Windows 7 as long as it had a number keypad
Windows 8 is very hard on my carpel tunnel .

I like my low-end Toshiba besides the battery and the lack of RAM (I knew it was low-end when I bought it)

I have a Toshiba Satellite L755 and have been happy with it for a couple of years. Under 500 at the time. Intel I3 Win7.

(I’ve never really exercised the battery though)

My niece had an HP netbook and she pawned it for a few days and it came back with a totally dead battery. It had run a couple of hours on a charge days before.

Went there twice and came back both times. Won’t make the mistake a third time.

Tigerdirect.com has some good laptop prices.

Several of their machines boot Win7 but also have Win8.

I would void anything Samsung. Last year I bought an $800 I7 laptop. The month after warranty, it just quit. I took it to a local repair shop. Motherboard was out and Samsung tech support said they did not have replacement motherboards. So, I have an $800 door stop.

I’d get one that has easy access to the hard drive and then swap out for an SSD. SSDs are by far the best upgrade I’ve made in years.
I’ve done that to 3 laptops and 4 desktops for myself and my family. The worst experience was upgrading a dell inspiron. I had to remove the keyboard to get at the hard drive. Luckily utube vidios showed me how.
