Marijuana is being smuggled out of Colorado in record amounts, according to a new report by a multi-agency drug task force, citing a 400 percent increase in pot seizures since 2005 from the state that has become something of an American Amsterdam.

Let’s not start with Pot. Okay, can we agree that would be foolish?
Would you go after the most widely-used & abused drug - alcohol - first?

Let’s see if those guys are recalled before you assume Colorado are staunch libertarians. I lived in Denver for 4 years and it’s a cesspool of low info voters and hardcore libs.
“I thought Republicans and Conservatives were against the nanny state, or is the party simply full of hypocrites? I guess you love freedom until you dont”
We are for liberty and against the nanny state. Legalizing pot while leaving the nanny state intact is stupid. Thinking that legalizing pot will somehow usher in universal emancipation from big government requires huge leaps in logic. My brain, fully fixed on reality, isn’t agile enough to make those leaps.
Fine. I’m for putting the feds in place. Let’s not start with pot. I would be willing to bet that the majority of legalize pot crowd wouldn’t side with you on many other issues. Once they got their pot legalized, they’d shut you out of the conversation. Society would continue to decay, we’d have more people on disability/welfare, and voters would get even stupider. Do yo disagree with that?
It doesn't matter if I think drugs are evil and make people stupid, the federal government doesn't have the constitutional power to regulate them.
I'll take any victory for restoring constitutional government, even if it means getting rid of some laws that I personally like.
To do anything else would make me a hypocrite.

“We just smiled and waved/Sittin’ on that sack of seeds.”
Note that this is not south of the border cartel weed. There are more pot shops than Starbucks in Denver. The choice is legally grown drugs sold on the free market or cartel drugs sold on the black market.
Once the people untether themselves from an external moral code (God) and abdicate their responsibility for self-control, they essentially become ungovernable under our system of self-government and can therefore no longer be trusted to make wise decisions. This is why the breakdown of society inevitably leads to dictatorship.
Permitting such people to have unfettered access to mind-altering drugs (something that earlier, more mature generations handled without trouble) will only accelerate the current societal decline. Unfortunately, a large portion of the "American people" of today simply aren't mature enough to handle it.
We as conservatives can't on the one hand say (rightly) that the liberal parasites are a danger to the country, but on the other hand think that making it easier for them to obtain psychoactive drugs will somehow lead to Libertarian nirvana. I understand the principle, but in today's world I am afraid that some restrictions are necessary.
Then change the constitution to give the power of regulation of education, agriculture, drugs, etc... to the federal government.

Well, would you rather have your state importing marijuana from Colorado, or from Mexico? People are going to get it from somewhere, one way or the other.
“America cant survive legalization of pot. Stupidity, laziness, and apostasy are at an all time high.”
America has no plan to fight stupidity, laziness, or apostacy, even if we don’t legalize marijuana. So marijuana is just a red herring in that argument.
of course it is, the legalizers goal is to NORMALIZE the use of any and all drugs for ANY AGE... and then they'll move on to normalizing any and all sex acts at ANY age
Someone smuggles drugs from me-he-co? WHAT? LOL!
I agree with you that the federal government has no real constitutional authority over these areas, but we weren't really arguing Federalism. You would agree, would you not, that the states DO have these powers, if they so choose? Yet I would guess that Libertarians would argue against that authority as well.
I am a small government conservative, but that does not mean that I am in favor of anarchy. If men were angels (or imagined to be, as Libertarians seem to view them) they would have no need of government at all. But they are not.
There are many difficult questions like this in today's world. Though I've argued one side of this issue thus far, I am actually sympathetic to both views. The difficulty we face is how to restrain an increasingly out of control segment of society without unduly restricting the liberty of the remnant of responsible citizens. Unfortunately, I think John Adams nailed it. Once enough of the people turn from God and from reliance on His principles, the Constitution loses its power to govern them.
Yes, yes, we already know you think every who is against the drug war is a gay pedophile with poor hygiene, but thanks for stopping by.
The original out of control segment of society was the federal government that created so many of the problems that you allude to. The feds must be restrained to work within the Constitution. Many of the problems will go away when that happens.
The Constitution leaves police powers to the states. That should include selling raw milk or not, firearms regulations, drugs, etc...
The government isn't the solution. It's the problem.

With so many illegals moving into Colorado, it is unreasonable to expect them not to use their job and business skills. They are sharing their culture with us, and there are obviously millions, about 100 million Americans, who want to share with them.
The problem with “Everyone I know who does drugs sucks and either cant figure out how to vote or votes stupidly.” is that you run into people all day long who use drugs like marijuana and you have no idea they do so if they don’t tell you.
“If every druggie overdosed and died tomorrow, Id be quite happy.”
What about people who smoke weed, which for all intents and purposes, has no toxic dose to the human body? I can go to the liquor store and buy enough vodka to kill myself by nightfall, but it’s simply not possible to do that with marijuana.
