Didn't want to be accused of being a "blog pimp" for one of the best minds in politics, so I posted the whole damn chapter (very long). There are NINE more chapters at the source that tell the whole story about this monumental misrepresentation of facts by the media and the disgusting acts of cowardice on the part of PSU officials.

John does what he has always done - cut through the media and their biases like a knife through butter.

When you couple this with Ray Blehar's work on rounding up the real culprits here (other than js, of course), you'll begin to see why I will not back down and I will not accept a false narrative. Not now, not ever.

I think everyone here agrees that neither you nor Ziegler will ever let go of your obsessive Paternolatry.

Endless. Unreadable. Pointless.

Chances that anyone will read this screed from beginning to end: 0%.

Chances that the author knows a difference between a university educator and a jock: 0%.

Chances that the author is capable of seeing the connection between the acceptance of pederast in the society at large, as nothing worse than ‘gaiety’, and its effect on the likes of Joe Paterno: 0%.

Whoever wrote that is trying to justify people in a situation where no one is justifiable.

Everyone is dirty. Sandusky, Paterno, McQueery, Spanier, the rest of the PSU admin, all of them bear some guilt.

Didn’t Joe Paterno say he wishes he “had done more”?

In the most important decision of his professional life, he failed. Not saying he was evil; but he decided to risk people not finding out in order to protect Penn States reputation.

Having a university president who had a goal of making PSU the most homosexual-friendly college in America didn’t help.

The school in which I teach was recently embroiled in a high profile rape case. The state attorney general opened a grand jury investigation after the two under age rapists were convicted, in order to find out which adults (coaches) knew what and when. Although the investigators get great interviews with witnesses regarding the head football coach, when these witnesses get on the grand jury stand thier stories change. If a high school football coach has that kind of pull to keep his image clean, imagine what Joe had.

They should shut down the Penn State football program for good. What a disgrace. Everybody associated with the Penn State football program should hang their heads in shame.

Hmm.... it says Sandusky is a Pedophile but not a monster. No. all Pedophiles are monsters.

It says Joe Paterno probably thought others were “taking care of it”. But nothing was done. Are you saying Joe Paterno thought that nothing being done was “taking care of it”? Was Joe Paterno not able to pick up the phone and call 911 himself? To walk to the showers and say “WTF are you doing? Stop it now!” I don't care about protocol: if you think kids are being molested, or have been told so, you act.

To me, the attitude in this chapter/article (whatever it is) is exactly why way to many child molesters get away with it. And it says Jerry Sandusky wasn't as bad as we all think. Even abusing one child is horrible and as bad as I think.

John Ziegler twists his logic like a shopping mall giant pretzel to make excuses for grown men who never 1) bothered calling 911 on Sandusky when they had an eye witness and 2) never bothered to confront Sandusky to find out who the boy in the shower was.

Cowards all.

How was Joe Paterno supposed to know that Sandusky was a pedophile when Jerry’s own wife and several of his kids are still convinced, even after his trial, that he is totally innocent?

This statement is ridiculous, like 90% of your post. No offense intended.

I have no sympathy for fags who like little boys. If that makes me a bigot then so be it.

My personal opinion is that JP was a victim of the PC mindset.

He sees JS & a boy in the shower and decides it’s none of his business if two males like to “shower together” - why act the prude?

Excellent piece. Thanks for posting.

You can already see from some of the replies that there is no shortage of shallow little people who don’t care to hear the truth, or learn more about what actually transpired. For those intellectually lazy flies it’s far easier to just accept the narrative provided by the liberal newsrooms, accept the hopelessly flawed and incomopetent Freeh report, and figure the old man Paterno must have been protecting a homosexual pedophile. ...Which, of course, is something that never happened, not for a second.

Do yourself a favor and ignore those posters. Seriously.

FRegards,
LH

I am not a Joe Paterno fan, especially because his pre-Sandusky treatment by too many of the Happy Valley people was flat-out idolatry of a football coach, or a ridiculously-long orgy of "Let's-All-Hail-Jesus'-Palm-Sunday-Arrival-in-Jerusalem" parade. One would have thought old Joe had cured cancer or something, based on the way too many people across the country, including my dearly-departed Dad, acted. But, to be consistent, if I was critical about how Joe Paterno was literally placed on a pedestal, while still alive no less (which, to me, is always an effective way of begging Fortune to turn her back on you), I am even less impressed at how quickly Joe Paterno's life and reputation were both cast down in a high-tech media mob action. Ziegler may be wrong about most things, but he is not wrong in pointing out that what happened to Joe Paterno was nothing less than a practice-round for what turned out to be the real tournament in Broward County Florida: the ridiculously-political trial of George Zimmerman. In this case, the medial miscalculated because it failed to account for the fact that George Z was not a sick old man dying of cancer.

I’m all for honoring winningest coaches. Vince Lombardi, Joe Walsh of the 49ers, Joe Paterno who sent kids to class instead of to the field. But we must always remember that the greatest leaders had their aides and assistants to help them achieve greatness, and those behind the scenes faces deserve our respect as well. Nixon had Haldeman and Dean, FDR had Alger Hiss, and Joe Paterno had his assistant coaches including one named Jerry Sandusky, whose sizeable contributions to the winningest coach’s winnings we should all honor!

The more somebody Paterno is innocent, the more I believe we haven’t seen the surface of his corruption, especially when they are so myopically absorbed in ignoring his duty. I now suspect he may have been much more criminally involved than anybody or any evidence has indicated.

Leave it in God’s hands. He won’t get away with something.
