Pope Francis called on Friday for mutual respect between Christianity and Islam and an end to unfair criticism in a personal message congratulating Muslims on the feast of Eid al-Fitr.
We are called to respect the religion of the other, its teachings, its symbols, its values, he said in a statement distributed by the Vatican press office.

Some believe the Pope to be infallible.
I disagree in this case.

Ill respect muslims when I see Coexist bumper stickers on cars in Riyadh. For me, it's when I see mushroom clouds rising from mecca and medina during ramadama ding dong month.

It's beginning to become apparent why he's the last Pope "the church" will ever have...
I had hope until recently.

He can make this appeal because the “peaceful” Muslims has not yet beheaded him.

Mutual respect?
Wishful, unrealistic and dangerous thinking.
To: Venturer
I agree. Overall I am happy with this pope, but this is too wishy washy. Islam religion needs to be much more assertive in blasting the terrorism way of life before I agree with the pope on this subject.

I believe this Pope is a Holy fellow who would like to see good in everything.
There is no good in Islam.

FYI, the pope is only infallible in select cases. There have only been two infallible statements by popes in all of history.

Some believe the Pope to be infallible. Not true. The church holds that the Pope is infallible on matters of faith and morals only, and then only under certain formal conditions. Any Pope throwing his opinions around does not make church policy.
