“A rampaging clothes hamper appears!”
Worst part is, I can actually see that.

Dang!

I was about half-way through composing a post and suddenly, FR disappeared and my home page was all I had on the screen.

Completely lost my train of thought, so I’ll belay that remark. Whatever it was.

Ohyes...now I recall.

I put $5 worth of gas in the truck this morning (1.5 gallons) and ran into Las Vegas to help a friend with an errand, and the total miles I put on the truck was 47...I think I used up the gas I put in. *sigh*

Ohwell...payday is only 10 days away...

Now we are getting some ugly wind. GAH!

I’m going to make roasted beetroot salad. Just have to look up the temperature for the roots.

You mercifully put the hamper out of its misery.
You gain 125xp and three loot items!
Loot: lost pocket change

MMMMM...that sounds good! It’s too much work for just one person to eat, so I will wait til I hear your reviews...

I have no idea what the weather is going to be doing today. I only got part of the weather on the TV this morning, since I slept in, and have not as yet been able to access the weather on my home page.

It’s cloudy, cool (90) and windy, so anything can happen!

I’m going to eat it all myself, but it will take me several days. After all the food and beverages in The Villages, I can use a few days of beetroot and spinach.

I don’t doubt that for a minute!

Were I there, I would help you eat it!

It’s time to do my weekly pill thing again, and it looks like once again, I misjudged what I should have bought. But I’m learning!

Now I just have to plan my life around the three-hour span where I take both day-time doses of pills. It’s not as easy as it sounds, when most appointments happen when the first dose is due.

Still, even a little progress is still progress!

And it’s muggy today. Ungh!

I arranged my week’s vitamins this morning. I was getting pains in my feet after several days without them.

Mom said her cat missed me today. Our cats are just sleeping!

Off to more wash ...

There are multiple pains in various (nefarious?) places when I miss taking my vitamins at the “right” times. One should not miss taking vitamins! Especially if it’s obvious that one’s body needs something that is in them.

Does your dad still know your mom? Or is she just a familiar person to him? I guess, if one loses the recognition part of the brain, the people in one’s life are not necessarily essential.

Still, I feel bad for both your parents; your dad for his loss of memory, and your mom for loss of a husband and friend.

All of our change goes on to the top of a “battery” “piggy bank” ..

Youngest grandchild - used to be youngest child in the house! - has the “chore” of charging the battery by feeding it coins. One by one. So the twins argue (gently) about whose turn it is to do their chores each time they come over. 8<)

Have about 5-8 lbs of coins in it now. We periodically empty half of it to the real bank when they are not around.

I think Dad recognized Mom as someone he regularly sees. When we walked in and he was sitting in the living room with the other residents, he got up when she waved to him.

It is sad, but there’s always something positive. She really enjoys visiting the Alzeimer’s residence. She knows everyone’s names and talks with them and gives them candy. And she said my brother told her she’s nicer than she used to be. (She said, “I thought I was pretty nice already!” and I assured her she was, but actually, I agree with Russ.)

Having Dad in the care facility makes it like babysitting someone else’s children. It’s much less stressful than having full responsibility.

At my house, the person who is willing to roll the coins gets the value in useful currency. However, more commonly they just fish the quarters out when I’m not looking, leaving a jar largely filled with pennies.

Wellnow. In my experience, I’ve learned that with very few exceptions, as we age, we become more tolerant in the areas that we are called upon to visit. Some folks, of course, get more crotchety with age, but again, in my experience, those are the people who have been left alone. They have no reason to improve who they are.

Your mother probably had a mental image of herself for years, and unbeknownst to her, she actually grew into when she wasn’t even aware. If she is happy with who she is, and how she interacts with other people, then good on her!

I’m sure that leaving your dad’s care to professionals has given your mother a lot of freedom that she would have had, had your dad not contracted Alzheimer’s. When I was in Texas, my aide’s mother had Alzheimer’s, and out of eleven children, my aide was the One Designated to care for her mom.

It was frustrating for her because she didn’t understand the disease, and no one else was willing to care for the mom, even for a day. I don’t know if the mom is still alive, but she celebrated her 75th birthday when I was there, and though she often forgot my name, she remembered I was a friend of her daughter.

One of her sons came whom she hadn’t seen in several years, and even though she had seem him once the day of the party, at the party that evening, she asked him when he had gotten into town, and why was he there.

And then I think ... “knock on wood.” I am so fortunate!

Hey. SG! I’ve missed you too!
Mostly I feel like I’m spinning my wheels without accomplishing anything lately. Just working, trying to keep up with the garden, cleaning a lot.

How are you doing?

Yes, I’m home. I’ll be caught up with the laundry by bedtime tomorrow, at this rate.

How is Canada?
