It’s been reported by ranchers and farmers that predatory animals won’t touch these mutilated carcasses. Even when they lay out for days. Neither will flies. Rural myth.

Rural myth. I've read reports and have seen interviews with ranchers who've experienced this. Many of them report that no animal or insect will touch one of these carcasses.
