Lake Superior posted its third-straight month of above-normal water-level increases, rising 5.5 inches in July compared to the usual 1.5-inch increase for the month.
The International Lake Superior Board of Control reported Wednesday that the big lake is 2.3 inches below its long-term normal and is 6 inches above the level on Aug. 1, 2012.
Lake Superior had its second-highest monthly increase in May and rose more than usual in June, thanks to well-above-normal precipitation across much of its watershed. The big lake continues its trend back to normal water levels after several years of below-normal levels.

Another - Never mind:
Funny how that works. Lots of rain brings the lake level up like magic.
No doubt that the rest of the lakes are already up. There’s been a lot of rain all across the great lakes region. Its raining here now.
Also from the story:
Meanwhile, the levels of Lakes Huron and Michigan also are moving back toward normal. The level of those lakes was stable in July, as usual, and is 2 inches above the level on Aug. 1 last year. They remain about 19 inches below the long-term normal, although that gap has been cut in half in recent months.
Hard to believe that the measurements periodically approach the averages, what with nearly every single day registering temperatures and precipitation either above or below normal, and sometimes within the time frame of a single day!
We are doomed!
Something must be wrong...
The water in the Great Lakes has NOTHING to do with global warming. It’s cyclical. We used to vacation on a bay off of Lake Ontario. For several years in a row the water level was lower until even fishing was affected. That was years ago and my nephews still go there every year for the good fishing which returned with the cyclical effect of the water rising.
Has anyone seen Justin Beiber hanging around Lake Superior?
HEY!! Some of us drink outta that lake ya know.
Never fear they will seamlessly shift to AGW is causing abnormal increases in the lake water level that will cause the extinction of the Fuzzy Sphincter Rat! We need to take immediate action!!!
Leland Harbor is the heart of this northern Michigan town. The small town is quiet in the winter. But the population jumps 10-fold in the summer, when tourists flock to Leland Harbor, beaches and quaint shops.
That tourist economy is now in jeopardy because of the dramatic drop in Lake Michigan’s water level. Harbor master Russell Dzuba says the lake is down more than two feet from its average. And that drop is threatening to close the harbor.
If you saw what was in the river directly up stream of the Detroit City fresh water intake on the Detroit River you’ld switch to drinking wine.
Raw sewage from the Rogue River spills into the big Detroit every time it rains much. The river fills with Jasmine’s feminine products and Tyrone’s shower caps. (locally Referred to as fresh water squids)
Chicago is the biggest sewage dumping offender on the lakes.
Even though Duluth’s storm pipes have always been separated from the sanitary sewers, whenever there’s a heavy rain water infiltrates the sewers and overwhelms the sewage plant.
The EPA forced the City of Duluth to spend 10s of $millions to build gigantic tanks to hold the surge water and feed it slowly into the into the plant.
They threatened the city with draconian penalties if they failed to comply.
Are you telling me they let Detroit of this hook?
Wow, imagine, rainy spring, rainy end to July, one tiny outlet in one corner, and the lake level rose?!? Call 60 effin’ Minutes. ;’) Thanks cc.
