Jay-Z has responded to criticism from legendary actor and activist Harry Belafonte that the rapper has failed to use his celebrity in a social responsibly way. Last year, Belafonte reportedly said I think one of the great abuses of this modern time is that we should have had such high-profile artists, powerful celebrities. But they have turned their back on social responsibility. That goes for Jay-Z and Beyonce, for example."

Jay-Z said,Im offended by that because first of all, and this is going to sound arrogant, but my presence is charity. Just who I am. Just like Obamas is."

Not unlike the way Ben Roethlisberger would go to bars around here and expect to be comp-ed and not have to leave at tip, under the theory that “my very presence here is bringing in scores of business for yinz”.
Funny - TurboTax didn't ask me about "my presence" when I was filling out my Schedule A for the year. Do I get to deduct 100% of my time?
I wanna know what JayZ and Obama text about.
Rest of the quote. Wow what an arrogant asshat...
“...Obama provides hope. Whether he does anything, the hope that he provides for a nation, and outside of America is enough. He continued, Just being who he is. Youre the first black president. If he speaks on any issue or anything he should be left alone Of course we want to challenge him to do better. I felt Belafonte he just went about it wrong. Like the way he did it in the media, and then he big upped Bruce Springsteen or somebody. And it was like, whoa, you just sent the wrong message all the way around Bruce Springsteen is a great guy. Youre this Civil Rights activist and you just big upped the white guy against me in the white media. And Im not saying that in a racial way. Im just saying what it is. The fact of what it was. And that was just the wrong way to go about it.
This is common. The celebrities are always being praised for caring just for showing up.
:: Ben Roethlisberger would go to bars around here and expect to be comp-ed ::
There are few young ladies that might want to discuss your definition of “comp-ed”.
Big Ben takes a liking to their...uhhhh...lipstick color?

What’s a Jay-Z?
...this is going to sound arrogant, but my presence is charity. Just who I am. Just like Obamas is.
I don't think the word "arrogant" quite covers it. Self-parody, possibly. This guy is headed for a long, ugly fall and a nasty shock when he hits the bottom.
I will revel in his fall. Him and his puke of a wife disgust me. All racism all the freakin time.
Narcissism, rampant among the entertainment industry and politicians. If you don’t follow God you become your own God.
Clothes, sneakers, rims, grills, “bitches”, and basketball.
They have “99 problems”, but a bitch ain’t one.
Beyonce and Jay-Z are worth around $800 million. I want to cry.
Uhhh, that's because it IS arrogant.
I see what you did there...
Is he national holiday material ?
I want another day off.
