In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
auspices (AW-spi-seez) noun
1. Patronage, support, or sponsorship.
2. A favorable sign.
Example sentence:
"In March, Serbian and Kosovo officials met under EU auspices for their first high-level face-to-face talks."
---Kosovo Parliament Rejects Move to Cancel Talks; Agence France Presse (Paris); May 5, 2011
Etymology:
Plural of auspice, from Latin auspicium (divination from flight of birds), from auspex (bird watcher), from avis (bird) + specere (to look at). Ultimately from the Indo-European root awi- (bird), which is also the source of avian, ostrich, osprey, oval, ovum, ovary, egg, and caviar. Earliest documented use: 1611.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Auspices. These administration hacks lie like rugs while speaking under the auspices of the White Houe.
The skies are blue this morning, an auspice of a beautiful day. Unfortunately, it’s a house cleaning day. My west coast kiddies are coming home this week. YEA! Cannot wait.
Post #5 should be directed to you. I’ve been kicked off line 6 times and had to re-login each time. I’m quitting now.
My wife likes to shop at this specialized spice store,
I swear, they are indeed Au spices.
Obamacare, under his auspices

“If you’re sick, you’ll get healthy
You’re poor? You’ll get wealthy”
A panacea somehow can still displease
Good Morning.
When I woke this morning and showered, I wondered what auspices of teh day awaited me. I looked out the back window to see a wild turkey in the back yard. So apparently, my day will require Wild Turkey to successfully complete.
Thanks for opening for me SG — was at the vet at 7 am bc chan collapsed when coming in from outside first thing. Dr says her heart is 2x normal size and she had some fluid in her lungs theyre keeping her a few hrs to get rid of fluid and regulate her breathing. She will start the heart meds now.
Durng my rehab from my recent knee surgery, I used an old Schwhinn Air Dyne exercycle as part of my therapy. I’ve owned a similar machine for years — an HD Airgometer. I tought they were “the same”, except one was half the price.
Well, they are not. Particularly in the upper body effort because of the pivot point on the arms. And the seat adjustment is also a little different, which is important to me because of the still limited range of motion of my knee. I found the Airdyne easy to use and the Airgometer to be painful. So, as silly as it seems, I thought I’d keep my eye peeled for a used Airdyne, since they last forever.
Well, my husband stopped at a nearby estate sale Sat. morning and found my bike for $8. Needed a new seat and a few small repairs. Required 2 trips across town to get the required parts. Parts are hard to find since Schwinn went out of business a few years ago and the name is now owned by somebody else. So, for less than $100, I have my very own AirDyne bike. It even has a book rack, although I can’t imagine trying to read at the same time I’m pedaling!
OMG. Im sorry to hear that.
That is scary. Hope the pup is OK.
Oh no! I’m so sorry about your dog (?) or cat(?). I hope she will be OK. Heart worm?
She will be ok short term but this will be the decline. There’s unfortunately no way to shrink an enlarged heart. Poor Jules is worried about her too.
Cavalier King Charles spaniel they are prone to mitral valve disease. We lost one 2 yrs ago in March to it.
I meant to add that a new model of the Schwinn AirDyne costs almost $1000. So, $100 is a bargain, even if it is a “funny” color. It’s an early ‘80s model and is the color of baby poo. The new chain guard I had to buy is a different shade of bronze metallic, and we can’t even find paint that matches the original frame! LOL
Oh no! They are such lovely dogs.
