GREENSBORO Six teens were arrested or cited Thursday night after a gun was fired near downtown Greensboro among a large group of teens. There were also fights breaking out amongst the group.
Those charged or cited Thursday included:
Kenyon C. Jordan, 20, charged with carrying a concealed gun and discharging a firearm inside the city limits;
George McCoy, 16, charged with affray;
Steven Lloyd, 16, cited for disorderly conduct;
Shyquan Chavis, 16, cited for assault on a law enforcement officer and resist, delay and obstruct a law enforcement officer.
Two juveniles were charged on juvenile referrals for disorderly conduct. Officers were called to St. John's Lodge at 1107 E. Market St. about 11:30 p.m. after a gun was fired, according to police. Officers saw about 200 teens leave the building.
As people were leaving the building, someone began firing a gun into the air, according to police.
Additional police came to help with crowd control and to find the person firing the gun.
Police said no one was injured.
Officers detained three people for firing the gun, and Jordan was ultimately charged. Officers seized the gun.
Fights continued to break out among the group as it moved along East Market Street, police said. The crowd broke up about 1 a.m.
The area where the crowd was located is outside the area where teens are prohibited after 11 p.m. due to a city-mandated curfew. The eastern boundary for Market Street only extends to Church Street. St. John's Lodge is near South Dudley Street.
At city council's meeting to discuss implementing a curfew, Councilwoman Nancy Vaughan expressed concern that if teens were kept out of downtown, they would gather in other parts of the city and cause the same types of problems.
It was just a few weeks ago that 400 “teens” rampaged through Greensboro getting into fights. Oddly enough, there were some twenty year olds listed among the arrested so, obviously, not all of the pillagers were actually teenagers. The video showed that they all did have one common defining characteristic. The media failed to mention that common trait, though, and politicians didn’t call for a curfew for people who have that characteristic like they are doing for teenagers.
Cops! Wake up! Shoot 3or 4 and perhaps they’ll get the message.

Yes, but they're such good kids. Excellent students. Members of the (basketball/football/baseball, pick one) team. Aspiring rappers. Their grandmothers (who they all live with) think that they are gentle, polite children, who wouldn't hurt anyone, and who were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and with the wrong crowd.
Do I need a /sarc tag?

A FReeper more paranoid than I said recently, "We're having a Civil War. It's just that no one is talking about it." I kind of blew it off, but the more I think about it, the more I think that he was right.
pig latin for “fraf”
Guess something didn't play well there.
This phrase cracks me up.
“A FReeper more paranoid than I” .... they exist. :-)
Aliens studying our media would be convinced that all “teens” are Amish, and that all other races skip right from age 12 to 20.
Thank you.
LOL, you two are characters.
Wikipedia:
In many legal jurisdictions related to English common law, affray is a public order offence consisting of the fighting of two or more persons in a public place to the terror (in French: à l’effroi) of ordinary people (the lieges). Depending on their actions, and the laws of the prevailing jurisdiction, those engaged in an affray may also render themselves liable to prosecution for assault, unlawful assembly, or riot; if so, it is for one of these offences that they are usually charged.[
I can say that I’ve learned something new today...before noon. Can I have beer now?
A couple of things: Back when I was in school, a 20 year old was not a teenager. 2. What they need to do is cordon off a large brick walled area for the “teens to congerate. And as they pass through the gate, give each one a fifth of cheap wine, a switchblade knife or straight razor of their choice and a Saturday Night Special wither a full cylinder or full magazine of ammunition. When the last one is through the gate close, bar, and lock it until morning.
