We're going to ROKU as soon as our DirecTv contract is up. Cable and satellite are dying business models now that internet streaming has become reliable.

Instead of bringing down prices or throwing in other freebies to keep their customers, they are, for the most part, attempting to lock them into contracts.

I won’t be going to internet streaming because of unreliabel service (Century). Running a small business, or day trading doesn’t cut it during the summer vacation when all the kids in the neighborhood (I blame my grandsons:) go on line and I can’t get online for half the day. I think we have rolling brown outs of online service.

Winter storms cut the power & phone service. With a generator and batteries I still have Dish TV.

What value does ROKU provide? From the descriptions I have read, you must subscribe to HULU, NETFLIX, and AMAZON PRIME to stream their offerings, with no mention given to local programming or even any popular cable channels, such as FoxNews or even the SyFy channel being provided, let alone Animal Planet, Discovery, the History Channel, Spike, or USA.

That they are, but can you tell me more about ROKU?? I’ve never heard of it before. I am on the website, but it’s mainly telling me how much it costs.
