I won’t be going to internet streaming because of unreliabel service (Century). Running a small business, or day trading doesn’t cut it during the summer vacation when all the kids in the neighborhood (I blame my grandsons:) go on line and I can’t get online for half the day. I think we have rolling brown outs of online service.

Winter storms cut the power & phone service. With a generator and batteries I still have Dish TV.

I also (call me paranoid) believe that the government has the ability to cause the internet to be “down” if it suits their needs.

Definitely depends on the population & internet density of your particular neighborhood. Plus the importance of satellite TV.

DirecTv goes out during our frequent thunderstorms here in the Pittsburgh area, but seems to recover faster than Dish did when we had it. Or, maybe it is an advancement in technology.

My sister lives in a higher population density neighborhood in Houston than we do and reports no problem with Roku, so I'm ready to take the plunge. We can always go back to DirecTv and Roku doesn't rope you into a contract.
