Had she stayed in the room she would have been fired for not dealing with the problem while she could have. She was fired because her boss was embarrassed that the thing happened at all and somedamnbody had to get fired!

Maybe the owner snuck in and started the fire so the place would burn down and she could collect the insurance on it. Maybe that's why the teacher got fired: saving the owner's building and school lost the owner the insurance money!!

Ha ha! Anyway, I guess the teacher was just supposed to march the children out and let the place burn until the FD got there, huh?

This is a common practice, especially with big nation wide chains. My wife is the director of one of those centers and has been forced on a couple occasions to fire long term excellent employees for non life threatening lapses in judgement. When the bean counters, who see a lawsuit around every corner are setting policy, these kinds of things are bound to happen.
