The divers quickly take this as their clue to get out of the water. But it is unlikely that they could have become like a modern day Jonah, actually being swallowed into the whale’s belly if they were taken up.

Maybe you can answer the question as to why bicyclists inevitably ignore the bike lanes to spread out into the traffic lanes going 30 mph below the speed limit making a hazard and nuisance of themselves and why they don’t feel that they have to obey traffic signals yet claim to want to “share the road.”
Humpbacks are baleen whales, meaning they have huge baleen plates (made of the same stuff as your fingernails) in their mouths to strain out small fish and invertebrates from seawater. They open their mouths to let in huge amounts of seawater, then use their tongue to push the water out against their baleen plates. A big colander! I suppose the divers could have been sucked in with the fish, but whales are very intelligent, plus are equipped with sonar and surely knew they were there. Must have been a heart-pounding experience nonetheless, but ultimately very cool.

The bike lane is where the broken glass of car drivers’ thrown beer bottles collects that pops your tire. Bike lanes would make sense if the city swept the streets much at all. Real bicyclists prefer no bike lanes whatsoever, and secondary roads.
Muscle power limits speed necessarily. Bummer. But I like it when cars pass me with alacrity. I hate it when they hang back in my blind spot.
I obey traffic signals when cars are involved, because they have a ton of steel designed to kill me. But when other people are not involved, I blow every law on the books. I’m kinda libertarian that way. If the cops want to write me a ticket, go for it. The costs / benefit relationship tells me to blow the red light when nobody is around. I’m taking my own life into my hands.
The opposing problem of bikes going too slow, as you point out, is that biking is a momentum preservation game. So, when you get up a good head of steam, you want to keep it going. If you blow a red light in order to stay at 15 MPH, rather than coming to a dead stop, you do it if nobody is going to be inconvenienced or endangered.
Many bikers go further than I do and make boneheaded moves that do endanger themselves and others, and inconvenience others. So do car drivers, as you may have noticed. I’ve had plenty of poor drivers cause me to take massive evasive action. It’s a two way street that way.
So, if both drivers and bicyclists drive well and avoid confrontation when in each others presence, it should work out.

I have a better one. I grew up in the ocean in South Florida. My dad would take me fishing, snorkeling or diving just about every weekend from spring through fall.
About 10 years ago, I took my wife snorkeling in the Keys. I hadn’t lived there in 5-10 years.
She was terrified of sharks. I told her we would only see nurse sharks.
So we are on a reef with deep channels (30ft) between large coral formations (5ft deep). I see a shark on the bottom and in my no contacts stupor it looked like a nurse shark. I dive down to point it out and get about 10 feet away and realize... nope. 6 foot bull shark.
I come to the top. The shark came right at my stomach when I leveled out and turned away about 1 foot from me. Then it and 2 others escorted us back to the boat until I had the balls to slap the water a bunch of times.
I take my boat to the keys from Atlanta 2-3 times per year and that experience has forever changed me. I used to be fearless. I no longer lobster or spearfish alone.

Honest answer, but still doesn’t explain why a group of bicyclists will spread out 3 and 4 abreast in an impossible to pass knot backing up cars other than the pure obnoxious factor. And as far as momentum at a light goes, when I’m driving it’s more fuel efficient for me to not stop too, but I do. Few things more annoying than having just gotten past a pack of road hogging cyclists only to have them squeeze by on the right while you’re stopped at the light, run it, and then have to face the task of getting past them again after the spread themselves out across the road again.
There are cliques of cyclists who hate cars, and make trouble on purpose. They get what they deserve.
My other bike is a 4WD, V8, Double Cab Tundra Big A$$ Truck.

We all just froze and forgot all about the mackerel.
I would have had a terrible odor coming from my wet suit when I got out of the water and a shower would be needed afterwards. First, I would have said it and done it at the same time. WOW
How big was the sub you caught? lol
We were fishing in Lake Michigan when I was a kid about 10. The boat had 4 down riggers (2 lines each) and some outriggers (a lot of lines) but I don't remember how big it was. It seemed huge to me. We had been quietly trolly for about an hour when a couple of lines hit within a few seconds of each other (FISH ON!). Then something really odd happened. One of the middle down riggers first hit, then the boat jerked, then the downrigger ripped out of the mounts and tumbled overboard into the deep. The captain came from the bridge and started cutting lines and cussing. We didn't catch any fish. And he couldn't (or didn't) explain what had happened. It was kinda scary as I recall. Years later dad said the boat was rotten right there. I've always had my doubts and have wondered but dared never to speculate. What happened is still a mystery to me 30 years later. In my mind, JAWS had moved to Lake Michigan.
