Many athletes erupted in outrage on Saturday when George Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges in the 2012 shooting death of unarmed Florida teen-ager Trayvon Martin.
But rather than just take to Twitter to express his outrage, Terrell Gausha, a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic boxing team, is planning to make a more visible protest against the jury's verdict.
Gausha told TMZ that he will never wear the American colors into the ring or on his body again. At the 2012 Olympics in London, Gausha frequently draped himself in the flag. But, he told TMZ, no longer.
How can I wear my stars and stripes proudly in a country where they make a big deal out of Mike Vick dogs, but not a young innocent black males life?
Gausha, who is scheduled to fight Julio Garcia on Saturday at the Fantasy Springs Casino in India, Calif., told TMZ he refused to represent a ""nation with so much racism and hatred."(continued)

The boxer won’t wear the American flag? Try this easy solution, “You are NOT representing the U.S.A. in this or any other contest in the future. Go find your training in another country”.
What happened to HIS First Amendment right???
= = = = = = = = =
He,like everyone, has the right to say what he wants.
HOWEVER, if you play for the Los Angeles Dodgers and say you do not like Magic Johnson and you refuse to wear the LA uniform cap etc LA has every ‘right’ to suspend or fire you for NOT wearing the uniform as required - which is their ‘right’ so long as they are paying you or you are getting compensation in one form or another.
Besides, if the guy (WHO??) is so morally opposed to represent the USofA, how could he even think of accepting ANYTHING from the Country or its citizens.
OTOH, I am sure enough monies could be raised to allow this guy OR any like him to leave and NEVER darken our shores again.
That is my RIGHT, to donate to such a fund.
SOMEBODY TELL THIS IDIOT HE IS MORE THAN WELCOME TO LEAVE THIS GREAT COUNTRY THAT GAVE HIM THIS OPPORTUNITY, AND PROBABLY A MILLION OTHER OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE DO NOT GET TO HAVE AS A WHITE PERSON. HE SHOULD BE PULLED OUT!!!
That’s a good thing...wearing the flag says he represents me...he doesn’t. My next door lib neighbor, who has a cardboard statue of Obama in her parlor, started flying the flag because use she now believes in her country. I packed my flag away respectfully..I can no longer fly it ..”for which it stood.”
Wow....”Black is beautiful”, as they said in the sixties.
Those Liberian chicks wearing GWB’s image ought to give Sharpton & Jesse a bad case of the heebie-jeebies.
And speaking of the sixties, somebody please find that pic of black U.S. athletes at the 1968 Olympics giving the clenched fist salute. This is nothing new.
Yeah, those white hispanics are tough cookies.
Absolutely amazing how many folks who weren’t in the courtroom, didn’t follow the case, and were not privy to the evidence have taken issue with the verdict.
Mostly Black, of course; these folks seem to consider the whole thing to have been a sporting event in which their “favorite” team lost.
Explains a good deal about the nature of life in Africa; and in the Black ghetto, for that matter.
I'd like to see George Foreman kick his ass....and don't think he still couldn't.
“for which it stood”, indeed.
That says it all.
Refusal to wear the colors = refusal to wear the uniform. That’s what he said.
It wasn’t his criticism of the trial outcome, but his specific refusal to wear the colors of his country, when his olympic uniform is based specifically on and represent those colors.
