So, Cop A shoots Cop B.
Purportedly "aggressive" dog injures neither government employee present.
Chances the lesson learned will be "don't shoot dogs"?
Slim.

This time, you’ll be relieved to know the dog was, apparently, not shot.

A St. Louis police officer was accidentally shot Thursday by his partner, who was trying to shoot
what they said was an aggressive-looking dog. The two cops were investigating local copper thefts when they were approached by an "aggressive dog showing its teeth." One officer the one who didn't end up with a bandage on his arm pulled his gun and fired "three or four shots" at the animal. One bullet ricocheted off a sidewalk, bouncing backward and hitting his partner near his elbow. Neither officer knew if the dog had been wounded, since it quickly ran away. Although it's lucky that the officer wasn't seriously wounded, his partner might need to spend some time working on his aim. [

I have it on good authority that the dog has studied The Art of War.

Must’ve been one of those aggressive-looking black dogs.
Probably a black dog of (if one goes back far enough) German breeding
Those can’t be trusted. :)

Good. Maybe they will think NOT to shoot the dog the next time. If the dog is not aggressive, leave the pooch alone.

Question: don’t LEOS normally carry a baton?
To: Altariel
I’m laughing with JOY as I read this.
I hope the dog made it home OK at the end of his shift.

[Question: dont LEOS normally carry a baton?]
That is the question I have always wanted to ask in situations like this where a dog is involved....either a wack on the noggin of the dog with one or two of their batons or some kind of spray seems to me much preferable to cranking off a round or two where the ricochets could end up (as in this case) causing a whole helluva lot of problems. But then, what does reasoning and logic have to do with the actions of Government employees?
