Judge Debra Nelson has behaved like a partisan hack the entire trial. Her asking George if he wanted to testify was beyond unusual. It was tantamount to jury tampering.
She wouldn't have done any of this if the trial were going the way she wanted it to.
Good one. Laughed out loud at that comment.
I heard commentators on tv last night stating that the court would ask the defendant directly if he would testify, they stated the law now requires this because it is the defendants’ personal right and not his attorney’s.
However, even if that is true, I’m not sure of her asking this in front of the jury, and then questioning Zimmerman on how much time he needed to prepare his answer.
I thought Zimmerman’s answer that “No” he had not yet decided to testify or not, was a win for the defense. It appeared to the jury that he may have wanted to testify.
A charge against Zimmerman is the result of the president personally inserting himself in the issue.
This has all the earmarks of another Obama failure so the judge will have to navigate Obamas corrupted water for him. Obama has a history of rewarding those who help enable his corruption.
“Judge, given your obvious bias against me, I don’t plan to testify beyond the copious material I’ve already supplied in various other forms.”
Was the jury present while the judge was doing this?
Another poster said that she asked him long before she was supposed to, while the defense still had witnesses to call.
And...we don’t want to appear racist and Martin’s mother looks like “America.” And we are feeling her pain.
She kept badgering him.
Just remember, she was appointed by Jeb Bush.
**********
She attempted to get him into the legal equivalent of a Full Nelson wrestling hold to control the opponent. lol
Another Bush league hack.
No, Ben. It’s been established that the jury was out of the room. She’s not that dumb.
Thx
The role of a judge should be to ensure, as much as possible, that trials proceed in a just way, such that the guilty receive the just penalty for their transgressions, and the innocent are acquitted and their names are thereby cleared.
This bitch has done her best to try and destroy an innocent man whose life has already forever been stained and turned upside down.
We know that "vengeance for Trayvon" types tried to get themselves included in the jury...we just don't know if any managed to elude O'Mara's vigilance. One or two diehard "death to Zimmerman" types could try to badger the other jurors into agreeing to find him guilty of a lesser charge to avoid a hung jury.
I know, Sarah. But remember what we went through last year with Casey Anthony? Not that it was an all-female jury but we hoped for the best and got the worst.
Don’t forget there is one Hispanic on the jury..
I just can’t be optimistic.
WOW! LOL!
Ah. She asked him twice. From what I've read, it's FL law to formally ask the defendant, if he hasn't been called as a witness, if he's sure he wants to do that, EN LIMINE!. It's SOP. That happened, as is required, the second time. She asked twice! The first time she asked, though, it appears the jury was there to see it.
I don't know for sure, I could not see the streaming video because I was at work. I followed threads instead. I did see the proper questioning en limine, and I got that part (I was able to open a stream for just that couple of minutes). But all the accounts I could find reported she did it in full court (with Jury) before she did it without the jury present, and West went ballistic.
I asked a couple of time on the "live thread" where people are watching, and nobody seems to remember the first instance. I may as well have two heads. Maybe they're too desensitized to see the biggest reversible error of the entire trial (and that's saying a lot).
LOL Ozzie
