last weekend i took the Dr Phil's weekend challenge to turn a problem in to an opportunity. The problem.....The location in this video is a brand new building less than a year old. i have been listening to the young people working there tell me horror stories for some time. i watched as this young man try turning in a statement dated dated for june 2nd 2013. The management team refused to let him turn it in, by giving it back to him, the area manager blew him off when he tried to turn it in....... when he sent me a picture of this food and where it was i couldnt believe it... i told him to get me video!!! when i saw the video I about s*** myself as i realized the stories i was hearing had been true.... there serving maggot slap and fly trails with all you can eat advertisements!..... its been over a week now since this has been brought to corporate attention, I contacted the volusia county health dept..... they dont handle it.

Ben Jammin has been working at Golden Corral for a while now and was proud to be a chef there. But after seeing how management runs the restaurant, he can no longer bite his tongue in good conscience.
After learning the horrifying truth, he shows the camera how whenever food inspectors come, his management regularly has the staff hide raw and cooked foods outside by the garbage dumpster.
Viewers can see flies swarm over raw burger patties while the sun rots completely raw all-you-can-eat ribs.
This is what my company likes to do to get ready for inspection, he says. Im an employee here, been working here for a long time, and I dont feel that this is right.
Ahh, who’s to say the guy in the video isn’t a longtime disgruntled employee and put the stuff there himself?
Or, his manager did because that particular Golden Corral is substandard?
Got no love for Golden Corral, but even less love for unconfirmed YouTube videos.
Do they charge extra for the maggots?
Just the live ones...
Yup. That would be worse! :)
Seriously, if that dude was actually trying to make a real point, and an inspection was actually going on, why wasn’t he leading the INSPECTORS to that dumpster, instead of just giving YouTube viewers a look-see?
Well, hopefully it’s not more than $1.25 and they include extra BBQ sauce...
The process works in reverse too.
When I go to a doctor or dentist, I dress and act like I am going for a job interview I really want. And I would advise you to do the same.
You are just going to get better service.
And I’ll bet the blacks that go who speak or act “ghetto” are getting substandard service.
Well I only ran McDonald’s here in California, but there was not any area the Health Inspector did not inspect, including the corral where our grease safe and dumpsters were. Must be some pretty fast foot work going on to shift product around like that and not get caught.
Who does he think he is....Edward Snowden?
I’m confused....why put food out by the dumpster because an inspection is going on? Why not leave refrigerated inside? Can someone explain?
Thanks.
Years back I had a lib appalled at me that I had this attitude and dressed well to go to the dentist. She thought everyone should be treated the same. I like to live in the real world. I worked in a university hospital and encountered a number of famous/wealthy people and saw how other’s treated them. Money talks, and it can also pay for a lawyer.
I always wear a suit and tie when shopping for major items like a car or appliances. The service and attention I get from the sales staff and management is noticeably better than those who wear jeans and look like they just came in from mowing their lawn.
OK, I’m finding this to be a little bit confusing. How does putting racks of food into the dumpster get ready for an inspection??? What kind of inspection? If it’s a health inspection, even the dumpster area gets inspected, too. Yet the employee states that he doesn’t know who to go to about what he sees? None of this makes any sense.
That said, I’ve seen some pretty bad stuff too by some fast food places. In a town I lived in, the roof collapsed on a KFC so the employees removed all the chicken from the walkin cooler and freezer and asked my employer to store the meat for them. He agreed to do so as a business courtesy. My bosses business was a packing plant.
The KFC employees brought the meat and put it on the side walk. Some of it was well contained in it’s original packaging, some wasn’t. Some of it was falling all over the sidewalk! Some was frozen, some wasn’t. When it was all said and done, there was more meat strewn about the sidewalk than in the boxes as they just dumped all this meat right there!
There was no way we could bring all that loose stuff into the building, and it had to be thrown away.
I was never much for eating at that particular KFC because their gravy always tasted like swill smells. Eventually the facility closed down and the town no longer has a KFC. They consistently hired young people as management, and paid min. wage. The kids regularly used the coolers as a place to smoke dope. Eventually they drove it into the ground. The franchise manager apparently wasn’t on the ball, either because the same situation continued for many years until it eventually closed for good.
I saw things at other franchises as well that would gross you out, and some of those things occurred in places with a four star rating.
I think unless it’s a well run, busy, mom and pop type place which isn’t a chain you probably shouldn’t trust eating out. Even if the health inspector himself owns it, doesn’t mean it’s safe. I know that first hand, also.
The safest place to eat is at home, eating food that YOU grew, and that YOU processed, including your meat as well as fruits and veggies. As we know, all facets of the food industry have had their share of ‘oops and oh-my’s’ regarding bacteria food borne contamination, sanitation problems, food handling issues and whether intentional carelessness or not, people got sick and or died.
It doesn’t matter whether the facility is a pet food provider, or a human food provider, “schtuff happens”.
But I still don’t understand how putting food in a trash area does anything to prepare for any kind of inspection unless that food has reached it’s expiration date for freshenss, and it’s been put out there to be put into the dumpster, and it was perhaps this kid’s job to make sure that the food got unloaded from the trays so that the equipment could be brought back in and cleaned.
GC is disgusting. Ate their once with our kids back in the 90’s and NEVER AGAIN. The clientele made us as sick as the food. (if you want to call it that)
THERE not their! sheesh, it’s early.
God bless you, you beat me to that excellent question. Fairness in the press is gone, sensationalism is all that counts.
