Sounds like a horror novel, doesn’t it?! I suppose I could throw in a few zombies to liven the story up!

I grew up just outside of Boston.

The Mafia was better at keeping the peace than the police were. The Mafia didn’t like bad stuff to go down in their neighborhoods. People who did bad things in a mobster’s neighborhood would often disappear.

Those days are gone. It’s every man for himself, now.

The police were urgently summoned via 9-1-1, but the unthinkable happened- the police did not appear for nearly 40 minutes. And then only one police officer showed up initially.

Over the years the motto of the police force has changed from "To Protect and to Serve" to "Officer Safety Comes First".

Big-city police generally will NOT come to the scene of a gun battle until the shooting is all over, and the participants have departed. They will come to take pictures and draw chalk marks. The only exception is if one of their own is down.

Thank you. I am sorry to hear that. With the nanny-welfare state, that situation will become more and more common unfortunately.

The county here built an upscale neighborhood next door thinking that would improve the community; however, it did not take the ghetto criminals long to figure out that the real money was in the new upscale neighborhood.

So much for the liberal notion of community improvement!

The neighborhood would be the residence of the Mafia guys' families and friends. They wanted to keep their own loved ones safe. Plus being the protectors of the neighborhood would create good-will from the other residents, and a reluctance to cooperate with police.

Isn’t that always the way. Liberal with other people’s loves until they become involved in true life. I Lived in NYC almost all my life as “Lib”. I moved away and now live in the boonies. It still takes the law minimum of a half hour to respond. I use the ‘stand your ground law’. I’d rather be judged by 12 and not carried by 6.

It will grow worse for white people remaining in black areas in Dem-controlled cities and states. When budgets grow tight, the first things to be cut back are police and fire depts. And anybody daring to protect himself will get the Zimmerman treatment.

I heard about the Mafia up there in New England too. It is sad when you have to depend upon criminals to protect you from criminals.

It is always every man for himself unless decent folks watch out for each other.

That's the whole idea behind the "Zimmerman treatment," to keep law abiding people from defending themselves against Obama's children when those "children" decide to rob, murder, and pillage. The Zimmerman persecution has nothing to do with legitimate law enforcement when the state ethically prosecutes a defendant where it believes there is probably cause to believe that person committed a crime. The purpose here, as with gun control generally, is deliberately to undermine the rule of law by persecuting an innocent man who was upholding the law.

The progressive (more properly termed Regressives)political machine is bent on making every city outside of Washington, DC just like Chicago and Detroit.

So, I would have to agree with your statement. The regressives want everyone to depend utterly upon the police to keep them safe even though that does not work.

When your life depends on a matter of seconds, the police are only minutes away! The second amendment has a very definitive purpose.

We didn't lock our front door during the daytime until the early 1970s. We lived in a nice area and one day in the daytime, a man went in a doctor's house and beat up the doctor and the bad guy was looking for drugs.

We started locking the door in the daytime from then on. My husband had several firearms but they were for sport - we didn't think of them as self defense and those weapons were more suited for a man.

In 1989, I bought a weapon for me. In 2011/2012, I bought more firearms for me and I bought more ammo..

Looking at that progression over time, what will the next progression be? In earlier years, I would have never thought I might actually need what I have now. How bad is it going to get?
