Just by the math of genealogy, a huge number of blacks and whites are related in the USA.
It would be a real hoot to do the genealogies of Black Panthers, Black Muslims, Skinheads and Klansmen, to see how many are related to one another.
We know the names on my paternal line back to before the Civil War. Those ancestors were part of a Scottish immigrant community in the Deep South. We have a bit of oral history, and the connection to the old country was still strong enough in the early 1900s that my grandfather was given the name, Dunbar (which is as Scottish as it gets).

They absolutely are. Just look at Thomas Jefferson's descendants. My family is composed much the same way. One of my GGG grandfathers served as a Brigadier General for the Confederacy, during a time that others most certainly were slaves. I sometimes think of reaching out to the white descendants of my Confederate forebear. They have a presence online.
