That was probably the wierdest thing I ever ate; it tasted good, but the consistency was strange (the duck has started to grow insode the egg - instead of feathers it has what looks like fine hairs coming in). You drink the liquid first, which tastes like cold chicken noodle soup.
I’ve never been drunk enough to try balut.
Was this offered to you or did you pursue this willingly? (Amazing the things you will do to be a gracious guest when you travel!)
I will admit that I like canned salmon that has the bones, I like the way that they crunch when you chew them. That’s as close as I can get, however, to a dish like Balut....
