Get Cuffed for Filming Police; Your Dog Gets Upset; Cop Kills Your Dog
Brian Doherty|Jul. 1, 2013 7:10 pm
Here's the way it is, America: annoy a cop, even doing something perfectly legal, and he might cuff you. And if your dog sees it and gets upset, he might kill your dog.
Latest example in this video uploaded to YouTube yesterday from Hawthorne, California of a man filming police on the street, when they then approach and cuff him.
Warning: if watching a dog die would upset you, don't watch. It looks to me like the cop was approaching the dog before the fatal moment more than the dog was attacking the cop:

Her we go again.
I think that most of us sense that the dog is a stand in for us, when the cop can’t kill us and get away with it, he kills the closest living thing to us that he can.
Insane.
What was the guy doing that caused the police to even cuff him? This is insane behavior by the police.
Should’ve abided by Peelian Principles:
The basic mission for which the police exist is to prevent crime and disorder.
The ability of the police to perform their duties is dependent upon the public approval of police actions.
Police must secure the willing co-operation of the public in voluntary observation of the law to be able to secure and maintain the respect of the public.
The degree of co-operation of the public that can be secured diminishes proportionately to the necessity of the use of physical force.
Police seek and preserve public favour not by catering to public opinion, but by constantly demonstrating absolute impartial service to the law.
Police use physical force to the extent necessary to secure observance of the law or to restore order only when the exercise of persuasion, advice, and warning is found to be insufficient.
Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent upon every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.
Police should always direct their action strictly towards their functions, and never appear to usurp the powers of the judiciary.
The test of police efficiency is the absence of crime and disorder, not the visible evidence of police action in dealing with it.
Gotta agree.
Watching your dog be “murdered” would be utter anguish.
Filming, apparently.
It seems like I read daily about an American cop firing his weapon with reckless abandon in a residential neighborhood.
What the hell is wrong with cops anymore?
I can’t even comment without getting banned and putting a an illuminated crosshairs over my house by the NSA.
They’ve been taking federal coin.
Increasingly, they are aware they are The King’s Men, and answer to King Barry, not to us.
Watched the video. To be fair, given the breed and situation, I’d have probably done the same.
However - why they felt the need to cuff him in the first place is the question. They invited the dog climbing out the window with what seems like a completely pointless interaction.
The dog died expressing concern for his master.
I’m no fan of no knock warrants, militarized police or the cops arresting people who are filming in public.
This guy put his dog in the car because he knew if he got arrested, the dog would get agitated. The dog got out anyway.
Frankly, I’ve got more of an issue with the initial arrest than the cop shooting the dog in this instance, but I don’t know what the guy did or said to get the cuffs on him.
In general, I have zero respect for 3/4 of the police. The majority of them would be violent criminals if they weren’t police. They have just found a way to legally fulfill their desires. I wish people would wake up to the police state we are living in and realize that we have diminishing rights.
“To protect (our pensions) and to serve (our union).”
Given that the man in the video was doing nothing illegal, the cuffing was illegal.
Given that the dog showed (surprise, surprise) alarm at what was happening to his master, the officer should not have approached the dog.
Given the dog’s emotional state, the officer should *not* have reached for the dog’s collar.
cops get away with killing all the time - they felt threatened. most departments #1 order is “officer safety above all else”. that means your life.
cops’aren’t your friends.
They sprayed 300 rounds at the Boston bombers with 1 hitting another cop and the rest peppering the neighborhood. Luckily, no others were hurt!
I don't know what the heck is wrong with cops anymore. I used to chalk it up to most being city slickers who never handled a gun before, but many are ex-military. Whatever the problem is, they better get their act together. I don't call them any more for things like domestic disturbances or noise - they show up like there was an active bank robbery / hostage situation - no matter what you tell them.
