Edward Snowden Issues Statement From Moscow, Slams Obama

Statement from Edward Snowden in Moscow

One week ago I left Hong Kong after it became clear that my freedom and safety were under threat for revealing the truth. My continued liberty has been owed to the efforts of friends new and old, family, and others who I have never met and probably never will. I trusted them with my life and they returned that trust with a faith in me for which I will always be thankful.

On Thursday, President Obama declared before the world that he would not permit any diplomatic "wheeling and dealing" over my case. Yet now it is being reported that after promising not to do so, the President ordered his Vice President to pressure the leaders of nations from which I have requested protection to deny my asylum petitions.

This kind of deception from a world leader is not justice, and neither is the extralegal penalty of exile. These are the old, bad tools of political aggression. Their purpose is to frighten, not me, but those who would come after me.

For decades the United States of America have been one of the strongest defenders of the human right to seek asylum. Sadly, this right, laid out and voted for by the U.S. in Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is now being rejected by the current government of my country. The Obama administration has now adopted the strategy of using citizenship as a weapon. Although I am convicted of nothing, it has unilaterally revoked my passport, leaving me a stateless person. Without any judicial order, the administration now seeks to stop me exercising a basic right. A right that belongs to everybody. The right to seek asylum.

In the end the Obama administration is not afraid of whistleblowers like me, Bradley Manning or Thomas Drake. We are stateless, imprisoned, or powerless. No, the Obama administration is afraid of you. It is afraid of an informed, angry public demanding the constitutional government it was promised — and it should be.

I am unbowed in my convictions and impressed at the efforts taken by so many.

Edward Joseph Snowden

Be very aware of people making comments like, “It’s no big deal, we never had any privacy anyway”

It's a very big deal. We should all be made aware that we have never really had privacy. Snowden has helped accomplish that. This will hopefully result in legislation.

<...”The man ‘claims’ to be acting in defense of the Constitution, but reading this statement leaves me wondering if he understands it”....>

It should make most wonder. Especially since he sounds like a kid whimpering in a corner because he thinks some big bad Bogey man is out to get him.

The immaturity of Snowden is remarkable. He speaks and act like he's living out a espionage computer game....which he bragged much about his expertize in.... Forgetting that International Leaders do not play in his "Matrix"...they live in the 'real world' on a playing level that has little tolerance for low level computer nerds as Snowden, who has only shown that he can lie, steal, and run like any common criminal.

He just gave Obama any excuse he wants should our security measures fail again.....big or small...he has given Obama the perfect excuse....

<...”Is it OK with you the government is now using our Bill of Rights and Constitution as toilet paper?”....>

Are you saying it took Snowden to inform you of that? If so you’ve been blind to the past 7 years especially.

I could care less how black you are
Abe Lincoln was a tyrant who murdered the sons of the Founders and put in place the Federal system that extorts cash from civilians to enrich those who belong to the Federal apparatchik

Its imbeciles like you that sympathize with identity politics that allow the race hustlers to keep your fellow “blacks “ on the Federal plantation

Try being an American that believes in the Constitution and the principals espoused by the Founders

They didn’t put a right to vote in there for a REASON

That reason would be women, those under 21, and simpletons cant be trusted with the franchise

That’s how you get part black communist faggot exchange students from Indonesia as POTUS

Go take your identity politics to a place where they are appreciated genius like DU

I've never “protected our government”....I know and knew what government can and cannot do....and protect myself and my family to the best of the abilities I have from anyone and anything outside that circle.. There is nothing you or anyone else can do to stop the Gov. and "others" gathering information about you...that is surrendered the day you received a social security card....everything from then on is gravy for whoever wants to find out.

Oh baloney....and more...that's just nonsense.

Look at all the Legislation that's gone down for years and years...has it given us any more privacy? We know otherwise.

We have a Constitution and Laws to “protect” us...but they are worthless if not acted on.....rather they are simply the line drawn that Lawyers and various politicians use as a guide to “work around and over.....it's a false sense of safety for it's not acted upon. Go ahead...tell me how you can force those in leadership to act on the privacy you want.????

I guess the Founders who fought the tyrant King George would be lost causers too if they hadn’t beat the Redcoats

The Founders were just fine with slavery, try revising that fact

Now we’re all slaves of the federal apparatchiks in DC, those liars and arch criminals who illegally and unconstitutionality surveil our every move

Truth is you have no idea that Lincoln paved the way for today’s federal police state

He is right.

The surveillance on us is more than we know. It is complete. Every word we have communicated is on file and we are categorized by our circle of contacts. They are building more storage capacity exponentially.

Lord have mercy. The Marxist is beyond evil. I have no trust in this government at all. I remain stunned that a high school drop out was privy to top secret information.

“they don’t seek asylum from this countries enemies”

Ecuador is an enemy? Russia is an enemy?

Snowden can go wherever he wants. He said he doesn’t want to live in a surveillance state so he left. I don’t know why you have a problem with that.

Had the South been satisfied with Dred Scott, the Fugitive Slave Act, the current state of slavery, their three fifths of a vote for every slave and not started a war, the relationship between states and the federal government wouldn't have changed. Blaming Lincoln for their stupid tragic act and its consequences is revisionism.

Privacy has always been a myth.

This time feel free to answer the specific questions instead of evading them.

Really, when were you advised the U.S. govenrment was hacking your computer, reading your emails, monitoring and spying on millions of innocent law abiding Americans?

Why didn't you blow the whistle?

Is it OK with you the government is now using our Bill of Rights and Constitution as toilet paper?

The technology achieved to put the monotoring system together must be something incredable. In the hands of an administration that has the highest of integrity, I would be OK that such technology was possible. However, with this Marxist SOB Syndicate, I can imagine what they are doing. And their track record reflects what they are: SOBs.

We should all be made aware that we have never really had privacy.

So, in the 20s 30, 40s 50s and 60s 70s, etc was the government monitoring and recording all phone calls from all innocent law abiding Americans for the intention of building profiles and backgrounds on Americans?

Interesting who is running interference for Snowden.... ( Passing his asylum requests to Russian Officials from his hideaway at Sheremetyevo airport.)

Snowdden applied for asylum in a total of 21 countries. ....a number have already rejected his request. Those who have said no:

Switzerland.... no....does not see Snowdens life in danger.
Spain................no....application must be made in Spain.
Poland.. ..........no....FM will not give recommendation
Norway............no....”applying for asylum should be done on Norwegian soil, his demand will be denied.”
Netherlands....no....not be accepted while he was abroad.
Ireland..............no....only accepted from a person who had landed in or was within the state.
India..................no...”we have concluded that we see no reason to accede to the Snowden request”
Germany..........no....”unimaginable his application would be approved.”
Finland.............no....required to be in the country for him to apply.
Brazil................no... ministry spokesman said Brazil would not grant asylum
Austria.............no....would have to submit his request for asylum while on Austrian soil.
Russia............. no....would be welcome only if he stopped “his work aimed at bringing harm” to the United States...Snowden said no...(withdrew his request.)
Equador..........no...not considering Snowden’s asylum request, would not give Snowden an authorised travel document to extract himself from Moscow airport. .. “The right of asylum request is one thing, but helping someone travel from one country to another – Ecuador has never done this.”

(Countries applied to....until a yes the answer is no....some are refusing to respond....which is a no.)

France
Iceland
Italy
Nicaragua
China
Cuba
Bolivia
Venezuela...(Snowden had pinned his hopes on Venezuela, Pres. Maduro was in Moscow this week )
Equador...No. ... not considering Snowden’s asylum request, would not give Snowden an authorized travel document to extract himself from Moscow airport. .. “The right of asylum request is one thing, but helping someone travel from one country to another – Ecuador has never done this.”

Snowden is a patriot and freedom fighter speaking truth to power. I hope Wiki or any viable protectors can help save his life. The list og dead people around This regime grows every day.
