I’m currently visiting NW South Carolina, and have been here twice before, visiting my daughter, granddaughter and her husband.
My experience with Blacks here has been entirely positive. I feel a lot less “separation” than back in SoCal. Certainly there must be some “angry” blacks around here, but I ain’t see ‘em.
Maybe I’m just living a charmed life.
I had a similar experience in Augusta, GA.
I am guessing you didn’t venture into downtown Greenville, or Spartanburg SC.
You touched the civilised part of that elephant.
Trust me, you are currently ‘charmed’ as you suggest.
Having written that, it IS appropriate to point out that a broad brush applied to “blacks” paints **MANY** incorrectly and unfairly. We truly have MANY friends, including 3 of our 5 proximate neighbor houses who are “black” or interracial households. They are happily married, have great kids etc etc. Great neighbors too. Willy next door teaches me how to grow vegetables worth eating from the crappy GA soil, and I help him with power tools. Pauline brings us sweet potato pie and drinks wine on the back deck with my wife, and I fix their leaf blower and garage door. Tommy and Jerry will out work any of us, any day.
What we share is a culture, a set of values and principles. We don’t share close geneology or pigmentation.
The ‘students’ described in this text are not ‘our’ (our neighborhood) peers in any way, shape or form. Yet they share our schools and our $$ value chain.
The tragedy here is that we seem unable to have a pulic dialog about the reality written here. It is racist and forbidden to ‘go public’ with such thoughts! And all these kids are LOST to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Deliberately so, due to the actions and policies of liberal democrats who see them as worthless except for their ability to keep them voted in.
Yes, you are.
I was born in Virginia and have lived here all my life. Black racism has always been evident. My most recent experience with it came a couple of months ago. A car---spray-painted pink---parked next to me, and a black kid got out and slammed his door into my car. I brought it to the mother's attention, and was immediately called a "white bitch."
