Does this movie accurately portray the role of homosexuality in the Sodom & Gomorrah account?

Just checked out Amazon reviews. A lesbian queen (okay that’s sort of funny) is mentioned, but not the pushy gay crowd that wanted to have their way with the angels.

I saw this movie a few years ago. Long on story telling short on Biblical reality. Still a good epic.

The homosexuality is lightly hinted at, but being an early “family film”, it will pass over most people’s heads.

It was 1962 and there were a lot more cultural and movie restrictions concerning the direct depiction of homosexuality onscreen. However, the queen of Sodom is definitely portrayed as a lesbian woman with her “favorite” girl from the harem in a way that was surprisingly overt for the time period. There’s also a scene where the prince of Sodom refers to a male character as beautiful when he walks in on him with one of Lot’s daughter. That’s about as far as it goes or what the societal restrictions of the time would’ve permitted in a mainstream film. Times certainly have changed(for the worse).
