I saw this movie a few years ago. Long on story telling short on Biblical reality. Still a good epic.

Yep, the censors and cultural restraints of the time period it was made in would not have allowed it to be move overt and graphic.
That sounds typical of a movie from the sword-and-sandal era that preceded the spaghetti westerns.
Insane, isn’t it? Back then they softpedaled the homo aspect to avoid offending families; now they don’t want to anger the homos themselves.
