My first movie soundtrack was Samson and Delilah composed by Victor Young. Still haunts me.
I love this movie.
When I was a kid the local movie theater played older movies, with cartoons, raffle prizes...all for a dime (yes that was way below market price even then).
I still don’t beleive the owner did this, I spent many summer Saturdays with friends thinking we were hot stuff going by ourselves to the movies.
Anyway this was the first one I saw (not sure why it was considered a kids movie) and I remember every scene, every bit of music....thanks I will watch it and have fond memories of days gone by.
Agree enthusiastically on the music. Absolutely magnificent. Better and more representative than Saint-Saens’. Hedy Lamar wasn’t bad either.
Oh, how fun! Thanks! :)
And that reminds me...my significant other needs a haircut, LOL!
Victor Young - great music - his soundtrack to “Omar Khayyam” is also super - was used as the theme to an early attempt at stereo radio way back in the sixties - one channel on AM from a station in Philly, the other on FM from a Wilmington, Delaware, station - magical music every Sunday midnight - good times.....
