The reason it is getting attention again is because Bill Clinton has been getting uppity, and the TWA 800 cover-up was on his watch.
The crux of the matter is that Flight 800 was accidentally shot down by a missile from a US naval ship. Rather than admit what happened and take the PR hit, the Clinton regime decided to make up a story about spontaneous combustion of center fuel tanks.
The feds put people in jail for trying to prove otherwise.
Bill Clinton will get the message to shut his trap, and all this will go away by the middle of next week.

I’ve always suspected it could have been a manpads missile, fired from a boat at sea. I think the altitude was right on the fringe of modern capabilities, but possible with the right missile. I doubt it was a Navy accident. A whole ship full of sailors isn’t keeping that secret for long. It’s just not happening. But a terrorist op... Entirely plausible.
I even understand the reasoning behind keeping it secret. Deny the terrorist his credit and you deny him his reward. You take away his whole reason to do it. I get it. I’m not crazy about it, but I do get it.
But why then... didn’t they do it again? Any number of airports are vulnerable like this. Why haven’t they tried again? Or even if they never did it... Why when its so obvious a way to blow airliners out of the sky?
Curious. Whatever it was, I still don’t buy the low-voltage short in the center fuel tank. I’m not sure you could even MAKE that happen.

Am I the only person in the world who remembers Dan Rather talking live to the New York El Al representative immediately after the crash? (hopefully I’m not getting my plane crashes confused) The rep of the Israeli airlines said they had late intel that their plane was targeted and canceled their flight. Flight 800 took off in its place. There wasn’t time to warn anyone else.
I have felt for the past 10-15 years that TWA800 was brought down by 2 ManPads, one launched for close in shore, or from land, and another about 4 miles out to sea.
They bracketed the plane with 2 SAMS to greatly increase the odds of a shoot down.
The witness statements generally back that up.

I don’t believe for a second that this was a missile fired from a Navy ship or submarine. Klinton hated the military and found any excuse that he could for dismantling the military (and sending them on expensive wild goose chases, like using attack subs to go study the weather and whales). I know because I was IN the military at the time.
Bubba would not have kept this a secret, he would’ve used it to further “prove” that the military is horrible and incompetent and use it as an excuse to further restrict them from carrying live weapons.
