Free 'E' Book.. "As this book is written for boys of all ages, it has been divided under two general heads, "The Tomahawk Camps" and "The Axe Camps," that is, camps which may be built with no tool but a hatchet, and camps that will need the aid of an axe....The shacks, sheds, shanties, and shelters described in the following pages are, all of them, similar to those used by the people on this continent or suggested by the ones in use and are typically American; and the designs are suited to the arctics, the tropics, and temperate climes; also to the plains, the mountains, the desert, the bog, and even the water...."

Have you ever seen this http://aloneinthewilderness.com/

I saw this on PBS and it was incredible. My wife and kids thought it was the most boring thing ever, but I was completely fascinated

Always found outdoor survival fascinating also Spruce. Today, however, my idea of roughing it is a Motel 6.

—I own that movie-love it!

After seeing it on PBS, I had to buy it; it is truly an amazing story.

I have been a fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder and all pioneer/prairie stuff since I was a little girl and it was like watching Pa Ingalls in real-time...loved it!

I’ve got the DVD and book. I love Dick Proenneke! My brother and I are hoping to go see his cabin next July while we are there fishing.

I’ve got this book. Every household should have a copy. I fear they might soon need it.

Thanks! Bookmarked, sent to my brother.

A lot of trees to do some of these “projects.” A lot of labor too.

Loved that show!! The hinges! the wooden spoon! the everything! My kids (aged 4 then) watched that show over and over. We called the guy who filmed it “The Man Who Can Make Anything.” ;o)
