Celebrity chef Paula Deen was today sacked from her job at the Food Network despite begging the public for forgiveness over her past use of racial slurs in a heavily-edited video apology.
A Food Network spokesman issued this statement today: 'Food Network will not renew Paula Deen's contract when it expires at the end of this month.' It came just hours after she released the 45-second video in which she says: 'I want to apologize to everybody for the wrong I have done. I want to learn and grow from this.
'Inappropriate, hurtful language is totally, totally unacceptable. I have made plenty of mistakes along the way but I beg you, my children, my fans, my team, my partners, I beg for your forgiveness. 'Please forgive me for the mistakes that I've made.'
The 66-year-old was due to appear on the Today show this morning to to answer questions from Matt Lauer about the racial slurs - but she pulled out just before the show started. Later that day she announced on her Twitter page that she would be releasing a video statement soon. After the initial video was released another, longer one was then posted on YouTube and was taken down soon after.

Every. Day.
Whites have become pathetic caricatures.
Your Dad clearly was not a Marine. EVERY WWII Marine vet I knew, who fought in the Pacific, said “Jap,” and they probably continued to say it up until they died in old age.
Perhaps you are unaware of the profound hatred the Marines and Japanese had for each other. It was visceral.

I have a World War II Marine uncle. He still hates the Japs. I attend Marine Corps League events with him.
I’m very aware and you don’t need to tell me, thank you.
You should never try to apologize to people who try to guilt you. Back around 1978 I ‘d purchased Pontiac Grand Prix and went to visit some relatives. One of them tried the guilt trick by saying, “wasn’t that extravagant?” I replied, “No, I earned the money, I could afford it, I wanted it, and I bought it.” Never heard and more of that BS.
You’d be surprised at how many people DON’T know about the USMC v. Japanese. In your case, that is why I said “Perhaps,” as I had no knowledge of your background.
I knew WWII Marine vets who would never even buy anything that was made in Japan: No Japanese cars, no Japanese electronics, etc., even though they were excellent products.
If you look at the root of the word Niger means black. Nigeria is the land of the black. And the word we are not allowed to say simply mean not pure black. In theater the light gel bastard yellow simply is not pure yellow. There are many words with multiple meanings. Words change and so do their acceptance
There are hundreds of Southern Living cookbooks. However there are many different regions in the South and the food is quite diverse.
Meanwhile, Black Ghetto Thug Trayvon Martin is celebrated even though he called himself No Limit Ni—a on Twitter
Deen apoligized for her past remarks. Yet the Black Ku Klux Klan and their White Guilt Liberal succophants had to lynch another Whitey
Wake up people!
I understand. Thank you.
Growing up, our Post Master was a Bataan Death March survivor. He was missing two fingers on each hand. He and other American wood cutters had intentionally cut the wood a little long so it wouldn’t fit in the Japanese wood stoves. When they figured out what they’d done, the Japs held their hands down on tree stumps and cut off their fingers with axes.
Not too many people her age could truthfully say they never used that word, it was fairly common when I was growing up. Where I lived there were no blacks, but as she said jokes were about the different ethnic groups and in the jokes the groups were all called by their slang (racist now) names. I can’t imagine that she was still doing that with the climate these days, I don’t know anyone else that is still doing that. The blond jokes took over for the ethnic jokes many years ago. Clueless of her if nothing else.
Good for Elvis. Another reason he was so beloved.
Second that....I highly recommend Southern Living cookbooks. I get the magazine. This month’s recipes include peach pound cake, pimiento cheese, squash casserole, and banana pudding, among dozens.
PC strikes again. Of course it’s ok to denigrate those bitter clingers to guns and religion, and any Tea Party types.
The term teabagger is just as objectionable to me as the N word, and all those smirking liberals that used it deserve to be fired, but that will never happen.
Yeah! Somebody oughta send Elvis' quote to Glenn Beck, lately a frequent virtual visitor to these pages.
My Dad had been on General MacArthurs staff and after the Japanese surrender, and as the Occupation got under way, orders were issued not to use Jap and show respect to the Japanese people.
—
There was a purpose for that order.
On the other hand, General Macarthur was ruthless toward the Japs who committed atrocities. Some Jap Generals had what amounted to Kangaroo courts and were hung immediately.
You must have some amazing stories about the general. MacArthur is one of the greatest gnerals in American history IMO.
Wasn’t it Paula who said (about Moochelle My Belle) “that girl could really eat! She ate more than any other guest on my show”?
I used to know a US Army veteran who survived the Bataan Death March and 3 years as a POW. (He's still alive at 94 but he is now in a nursing home with dementia.) He eventually bought a Japanese car. People who had known him for a long time thought that was the real end of World War II.
