WASHINGTON, D.C., June 19, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) Although religious rhetoric is usually associated with the pro-life movement, one Democrat sounded like a hellfire and brimstone preacher while defending late-term abortion on the floor of the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
This bill is an abomination! said Rep. Gwen Moore, D-WI. Plain and simple, at its foundation, at its heart, is utter disrespect for the dignity and health of women.
Arizona Congressman Trent Franks introduced the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 1797) to prevent atrocities like those committed by Kermit Gosnell and Douglas Karpen, who are accused (and in the case of Gosnell, found guilty) of performing illegal late-term abortions, as well as delivering living babies, and killing them after birth. As well, two women died during botched abortions in Gosnell's care.
Boy, I tell you, the House GOP has truly pushed the limits this time by offering this unconstitutional bill, Moore stated.
If adopted, the bill would ban most third-trimester abortions, a view supported by 80 percent of the American people. Rep. Moore said that would callously and cavalierly limit access to abortion for women across the country.
Now we have a bill that is born of ignorance and disregard for medical science in every way, shape, and form no concern for the biology, physiology, sociology of the woman, she said.
To bolster her case that Republicans were motivated by ignorance, she cited the recent and now-infamous words of Miss Utah, however inarticulate, on the need to create education better.
Twenty-one-year-old Marissa Powell, who hails from Salt Lake, finished fifth in the Miss USA Pageant after giving a circuitous answer to a question about the male-female pay gap.
I think Miss Utah is on to something, Moore said, claiming that we once again see men taking leadership roles to deny women's right to a medically safe abortion.
Denying women the care they need is hazardous, cruel, and it's simply the wrong thing to do, she concluded.
Ultimately, the bill passed 229-196. It grounded its opposition on scientific testimony that unborn babies at 20 weeks post-fertilization are capable of feeling pain.

Moore, who regularly earns a 100 percent voting record from NARAL Pro-Choice America, said during a 2011 debate, Planned Parenthood is healthy for women, its healthy for children, and its healthy for our society.
The alternative to abortion, she warned, was that children would live in poverty and have to eat Ramen noodles.
This bill is an abomination! said Rep. Gwen Moore, D-WI.
Plain and simple, at its foundation, at its heart, is utter disrespect for the dignity and health of women.
Exactly !
What’s wrong with eating Ramen noodles?
Well according to this democrat the poor children have only ramen noodles to “fill their bellies” therefore they should have been aborted.
There, fixed it.
“Well according to this democrat the poor children have only ramen noodles to fill their bellies therefore they should have been aborted.”
Solution: Ask the baby if he/she wants to die or eat Ramen noodles.
This woman is pure evil. I will give her the benefit of the doubt that she is intelligent, even though it may be questionable. But intelligence has nothing to do with whether the devil has your soul.
God save our nation and give people like her the strength and power to battle evil and win.
I ate a regular diet of Ramen noodles, generic brand of mac and cheese and other under 15 cent meals while I worked my way through college. Nothing wrong with it. I also didn't get pregnant. :)
Plain and simple, at its foundation, at its heart, is utter disrespect for the dignity and health of women.
Someone should tell old Gwen that many of the babies that are murdered through abortion would eventually become women.
Thanks Morgana. Fig leaf ping.
This article probably needs its own thread. Wish I had found it on Fathers’ Day.

“Because, despite what the law says, fathers are fathers from conception, not from birth.
The landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade, effectively stripped the father of all legal rights regarding his unborn child. Before that decision, men were fathers from the day their child came into being, at conception.
But, with the stroke of a pen, fatherhood jumped nine months into the future. Mothers, meanwhile, maintained their parental rights from the day of conception. So much for equal rights for men and women. “
Stick that in your purse, Gwen.
They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.
The patron saint of pro-aborts is Lady Macbeth: "Yet do I fear thy nature. It is too full o' th' milk of human kindness ... Infirm of purpose! Give me the daggers.... Things without all remedy should be without regard."
