The NRA and other gun lovers use the Second Amendment as proof of their right to bear arms. The Second Amendment is outdated and is of no use in today's society. In fact, the Second Amendment was written as a right to bear arms for colonists to protect themselves against other colonists, Indians and to form a militia in case the British invaded farms and other private lands. To use it today as a law is very silly. If that is all the NRA and their followers have to justify their use of guns, then they will soon lose the fight about gun control. It is a matter of time. Guns that are used to kill other people such as pistols, assault weapons and others must be banned. They have no business being in people's hands. Our right to be free from gun violence far outweighs any right to bear arms. We have had enough of guns.

George, buddy, the Second Amendment means that everybody has the right to bear arms. Now, if you want to get those bear arms, you have to take them from a bear. Do you really want to try that without a firearm? Of course not. The bear would use your testicles for fishing lures. So if you don't want to watch yer danglers bait for a wide-mouth bass, you have to have a gun.
Q.E.D. You're welcome.

If the moron known as George_Vreeland_Hill_5 is reading this, using your analogy, the internet would not be protected by the 1A, as it did not exist when the country was founded.
The Bill of Rights was written to address the NATURE OF MAN, not a point in time. There will always be people who want freedom of speech, freedom of religion and the ability to fight of tyrants who may assume power. It is TIMELESS and UNIVERSAL, but you keep on telling yourself that only muskets apply. My response is that only the printing press applies.

We have had enough of guns.
Speak for yourself.
One can never have too many guns or enough ammo. You truly are clueless into the nature of man and what he is capable of. May you never learn when you are unarmed.

Idiot!!!
"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed, unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust their people with arms." James Madison
"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States. A military force, at the command of Congress, can execute no laws, but such as the people perceive to be just and constitutional; for they will possess the power, and jealousy will instantly inspire the inclination, to resist the execution of a law which appears to them unjust and oppressive."
Noah Webster, An Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution (Philadelphia 1787)
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Thomas Jefferson
"As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms."
(Tench Coxe in `Remarks on the First Part of the Amendments to the Federal Constitution' under the Pseudonym `A Pennsylvanian' in the Philadelphia Federal Gazette, June 18, 1789 at 2 col. 1)

And no guns were used.
See my editorial this weekend: "The 'Gun Violence' Loophole". See if you don't agree with my premise. I'll ping you. XD
