Here's my new Ford truck. After owning my Chevy for 17yrs and the fact Ford didn't take any taxpayer bailout money, it was time to make the switch. Any other Freepers own a F150 truck? If so, thoughts?

What?
Glad you made it!!
Mine brought me home in a Volvo 240.. I won’t drive a volvo ;)
LOL, I love my job. I am a low voltage electrician. I don’t drive near as much as I use to. Last year I only deducted 75,000 miles.
I could. But I need a van and as far as I know Toyota does not make a full size cargo van.
Purty! I like the color.
Price a 1 ton dually crew cab with a diesel and 4 wheel drive. Just about any option package will have a MSRP north of 50K
Drive one. Bring friends.. Load it up. You won’t want one. I rented one for an extended test drive. Snappy and fun to drive till I loaded my tools and equipment in it. The added 1500 pounds turned the transit in to a turd with tons of body roll.
I expect after you experience one with a load in it you will change your mind.
This is coming form someone who really wanted to like it to.
You never answered anybody about whether or not Ford paid the money back, so I assume they did.
By your standard, since all Ford employees with children got tax deductions, he should take the truck back?
I saved around $2900 (extra rebate+dealer discount) going with the 5.0L V8 over the Eco-Boost V6 ....don’t ever tow anything so didn’t need the extra torque, etc. with the V6 ....really really like the 5.0L so far, much better than anything they offerend in 2010
I suppose I would classify anything that huge as far beyond what I consider a pickup truck and into industrial vehicles.
It is the same engine as the SHO, I believe. It’s also available in the Ford Flex (their straight-edged SUV).
Supposedly an Ecoboost F150 will beat a Hemi-powered Ram 1500 in a quarter-mile, but I’m not sure about that, the new Hemis are pretty beastly. That said, it’ll surely beat a Hemi at the gas pump. It’s not so much that they get 365 horsepower out of 3.8 liters, it’s that they’ve done it in a way that makes it useful in a pickup truck, where low-end torque is necessary (and that’s not something turbos have been known for in the past).

From your link, "OK, Ford didnt file bankruptcy or get bailed out by Uncle Sam, but didnt it receive $5.9 billion in low-cost government loans in 2009 to overhaul its factories and bring out more fuel-efficient technology?"
Yes, and paid it back with interest, and without screwing over the bond holders.
I own ford stock. Bought um when they bottomed out. GM paid the money back to (with shady book keeping and other government loans) what is your point?
If you want a car/truck that has never taken any sort of government money.. well.. I think your just screwed and walking.
And yes, I think they did pay it back. Why did we loan it to them in the first place? That is what venture capital groups and private banks are for.
I saw an idiot dump one in the lake the other day trying to launch his 300 HP fishing boat.
I know open ocean guys like dual outboards for redundancy as well as power for rough water...........
10-4. my old 78 34T heavy 4x4 has been rebuilt twice, and I will bet it is a challenger to anything in it's class... It will certainly kick the crap out of anything new (and has done so) or stock... but it doesn't have butt-warmers and on-star... Which is fine with me, as I can eat a lot of chili, and I always know where I am.
I have a new project - found an early 80's 1T heavy crew cab 4x4 dually... I am going to tear it down and restore it... with a 12 valve Cummins and an Allison... Gonna keep that one on the ground and make a hauler out of it. And I will have it till I die.
And by the time both are restored, I STILL won't have as much in the two as a new one costs, I will have WAY more performance, and I can fix *anything* on it myself. MoBedda.
That was my point. Thanks.
around here we locals on the lake call those boats penis extensions.. And while they are jetting around at WOT trying to find the fish on there 5000 dollar color depth finders we locals are pulling 30” northerns out of our sweet spots in 60’s alumacraft row boats with the same vintage 9.5 HP outboards on the back..
They are the same guys that drive the 60+K trucks and have no idea what they are doing with those either.
My boy is a diesel mechanic- I’m not. I’ve had a few trucks and two tractors with mechanical injectors, nothing newer.
We got semis at work that are drive-by-wire, burn-down stacks and what not; I’m doing good to keep up with what I got at present.
The diesels do make the torque!
I gotta dance with the one that brung me...maybe I can expand my horizons when I retire. Meanwhile, I’m all about straight dana front axles, 205 transfers and 420 and 465 muncies- gm 14 bolt rear if you want a bullet-proof rig.
