The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention says that at any given moment about a quarter of American adults are mentally ill and that over the course of their lifetimes about half of all Americans will develop at least one mental illness. In addition, says the agency, "mental illness is associated with increased occurrence of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma, epilepsy, and cancer."

“Liberalism is a mental disorder”
Disarm the Dem’s.
That’s the whole point of being able to confiscate somebody’s guns if he’s judged “mentally ill”.
Nearly 50% of U.S. Adults Will Develop at Least one Mental Illness.
Really? Well nearly half of U.S. adults will drive a car to work tomorrow. Nearly half of U.S. adults will eat breakfast tomorrow. Nearly half of U.S. adults will celebrate father's day tomorrow.
Morons.
Explains all the votes for Obama.
(Having not read the replies yet, I won’t be surprised if this isn’t the first such response)
I was fairly well together, head-wise. Then I became a parent of teenagers.
Except that it also means 1/4 - 1/2 of government workers and elected officials are crazy as well at any given time.....sounds about right given history, eh?
A better case to be armed.
50% of the population is female, ‘nuff said.
I may have several.
One is intense hatred towards this central socialist government and the goon that sits in the oval office scratching initials and obscenities into the antique desk.
Obama is driving me nuts already
This is a “duh” statement. One half the voters voted for criminal monkeys -— Democrap politicians!
Since liberals are at about 50%, this seems to be a proven fact.
TRANSLATION: “We must manufacture a way to deprive Tea Party bigots of their 2nd Amendment rights.”
Yep that is what it sounds like.
Any temporary mental distress will be grounds for permanent disability to own firearms.
Psychiatry possesses an inherent capacity for abuse that is greater than in other areas of medicine.[18] The diagnosis of mental disease can give the state license to detain persons against their will and insist upon therapy both in the interest of the detainee and in the broader interests of society.[18] In addition, receiving a psychiatric diagnosis can in itself be regarded as oppressive.[19] In a monolithic state, psychiatry can be used to bypass standard legal procedures for establishing guilt or innocence and allow political incarceration without the ordinary odium attaching to such political trials.[18] In the period from the 1960-s to 1986, the abuse of psychiatry for political purposes was reported to have been systematic in the Soviet Union and episodic in other Eastern European countries such as Romania, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia.[20] The practice of incarceration of political dissidents in mental hospitals in Eastern Europe and the former USSR damaged the credibility of psychiatric practice in these states and entailed strong condemnation from the international community.[21] Psychiatrists have been involved in human rights abuses in states across the world when the definitions of mental disease were expanded to include political disobedience.[22] As scholars have long argued, governmental and medical institutions have at times coded threats to authority as mental disease during periods of political disturbance and instability.[23] Nowadays, in many countries, political prisoners are still sometimes confined and abused in mental institutions.[24] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punitive_psychiatry_in_the_Soviet_Union
I realize that some people suffer horribly and need treatment but don’t ya think people are over diagnosed these days?
It is like it is expected there will be no bad days, weeks, months, years.
I think it retards our growing/coping process. It’s hard but pain and suffering do have a purpose.
COINCIDENCE?
I’m sure glad I’m in the half that is sane enough to be allowed to *keep* their guns. ;-)
No fair jumping to the end of the book! Of course it is the start of the case for banning all guns. After all, if you want a gun, you must be mentally ill.
Of course, the constitution doesn't say guns.
But yes, think about your friends and family. Which of them would decide that someone with mental illness should have the right to keep and bear arms? Very few, I'd imagine. So the next step is to declare most everyone insane, and gosh, these taking of rights is only for their own good, and the good of the community. Can't have crazy people running around with guns, can we?
