Stewart Rhodes, the group's founder, has emailed me a statement about Snowden:
He is an example of what needs to be done by anyone who has knowledge of such gross violations of our rights. We need more to stand up, because this is surely the mere tip of the iceberg of the infrastructure for a police state that is being built over us.
This is about far more than supposed attempts to ferry out al Qaeda operatives. This is part of a growing Stasi and Checka style surveillance police state which tags, tracks, and prepares plans to detain dissidents with the "Main Core" database of millions of Americans who the regime considers a "threat."
And this is also really about the absurd claim that the U.S. is a battlefield and the Fourth Amendment doesn't apply to the President's "surveillance of the battlefield."

i was born in this country so i am a native and all those stupid people who jump on the bandwagon should beware i am a wagonburner
no sitting on the fence you can either stand in front of the barbed wire or behind it
He is a traitor is he is seeking protection from America’s enemy and leaking to the Chinese that we are spying on them.
From former agent: “Daily Caller: What did you make of the news over the last couple of days with Mr. Snowden coming forward?
Binney: Well obviously, I would have started out by trying to go different routes, like going to the intelligence committee, or the IG. I mean that didnt do any good but thats the route I took; I at least tried to do the right thing. So Im not going to try to understand his motivation. I guess he was properly disturbed by the surveillance state we have, or the police state if you want to call it that. I wouldnt have done it that way, but thats the way he did it.
Daily Caller: But you said going through the proper channels didnt do any good.
Binney: Yes, it didnt do any good. I would still have done that to say I tried. And then, when it completely failed, then I might consider something radical.”
The people in China don't hate us, just like we don't hate the people in China. The politicians use China as a boogie man to do whatever it is they're trying to do (like taking control of cyberspace, for example, "for our own safety"), but China really isn't that bad. We spy on them more than they spy on us. Jobs go there not just because of prophets there - they go because of oppressive taxation here.
Hong Kong is like a nation unto itself. It uses it's own laws and courts. Their courts are like ours. I suppose the whistle blower ran there because of this. He'd at least get a fair trial. China may protect his life where the politicians here in the U.S. would take it from him in order to silence him.
Think about it. Who's really the more oppressed people? Our government is now extremely oppressive. What can we eat? What can we say? where can we accumulate? What can we buy? What can we drive? What can we sell? How do we get medical care? What do our children learn in school? Where can we pray? Gotta check the regulations! Gotta check the laws! Gotta pay the fees!Gotta pay the fines!
Good for you!
the american government is the biggest enemy we have
I could not have said it better. Snowden needs to be given a medal.
Yes, I agree, but that aside, he is finding cover with our enemies.
It's worse than we thought, but not than we imagined. They've just put it together before we thought they woudld.
Now, they do not have the power to analyze this stuff in rea time...but they do have the power to individually go back through it for people they think are a threat. And that is what they are doing now.
I would say we are not as opressed as China but I do remember Obama was so impressed with how China runs things that he said they were a good example. (I think he was talking about the buildings and infrastructure that they build in 3 days and falls apart or is torn down a year later) He probably wishes he could do the forced abortions and shooting political dissidents thing.
the only reason he should return is if he is granted immunity
It now considers the U.S. citizens it's enemy.
We need a peaceful revolution that demands the return of our civil rights as a free people. It's like Martin Luther King all over again, but today it's all Americans who want to be free who need to march in the streets. We're all being re-inslaved.
and i need to get a jump on monopolizing the concession stands
Oh, at this point we are all pretty much behind the barb wire. Sure you can leave if you want but unless you have a good cave picked out in the wilds of Kyrgyzstan they can always come get you. In fact they'll probably get you there, too, given enough time.
Yeah. Most of China is heavily oppressed, which is probably why the whistle blower went to Hong Kong. The socialists in Europe wouldn't have protected him. Even Russia has agreed to give him asylum, because his own government would make sure he went "missing" long before he made it home.
I don't think he had much of a choice but to flee to a country that wouldn't turn him over to the regime. At least he's alive today.
With the left being the new “Establishment”, I think bantering Traitor or Patriot pointless. I would purpose we call him a Rebel. It is time to rebel against the “Establishment”.
Gunner
that is defeatist shitty thinking free your mind or jump on a jet and go visit some of the nazi death camps and unless you are soul dead you will find some meaning there
I didn’t say the Chinese are stupid. Snowden isn’t Chinese or Russian. They are not our friends.
Neither is the US Government.
